After eight years in prison, Levi Rush is finally out and back on the gritty streets of Detroit to claim the future he was owed. A future that includes the one woman he’s wanted for years—his former best friend Rachel. She’s the reason he went inside and if getting her to do what he wants means buying the building that houses her tattoo studio and using it as leverage, then that’s what he’ll do. Because if there’s one thing he’s learned inside it’s that if you want to win, you have to play dirty.

When rescue looks like a whole lot of trouble . . .

The road trip was definitely a bad idea. Having already flambĂ©ed her culinary career beyond recognition, Rita Clarkson is now stranded in God-Knows-Where, New Mexico, with a busted-ass car and her three temperamental siblings, who she hasn't seen in years. When rescue shows up—six-feet-plus of hot, charming sex on a motorcycle—Rita's pretty certain she's gone from the frying pan right into the fire . . .

Jasper Ellis has a bad boy reputation in this town, and he loathes it. The moment he sees Rita, though, Jasper knows he's about to be sorely tempted. There's something real between them. Something raw. And Jasper has only a few days to show Rita that he isn't just for tonight—he's forever.

EXCERPT
“So.” He plunked his beer down on the bar. “Where were you four headed in that big, rusty Suburban before Hurley reeled you in?”
She looked pensive as her shit-stomping boots started to sway back and forth, bumping the wooden rungs of the stool. “We need to be in Coney Island by New Year’s Day. So we can jump into the Atlantic Ocean.”
“Why—what?” He dropped onto the stool beside her, his drink forgotten on the bar. “That’s pretty high on the list of things I didn’t expect.”
“Oh, I know the feeling.” A beat passed. “It was our mother’s last wish.”
“I’m sorry.”
She nodded, brushing her hair back in a jerky motion, as if she were uncomfortable having someone’s undivided attention. He’d never had cause to use the word preposterous before, but that was the only way he could describe her lack of confidence. Despite the inappropriate name, the Liquor Hole was his life’s work, and, at the moment, it was nothing more than an unworthy backdrop for Rita. And, God, he was staring at her hands like an aggressive palm reader. “Most mothers want to avoid having their children turn into floating ice sculptures. What was her reason?”
“Good question.” A hint of sadness winked in her eyes, and Jasper wished he’d let the subject drop. This was what happened when he avoided talking about sex. He stumbled right into deceased parents. And yet he wasn’t sorry. Not even a little bit. He wanted to know everything. “I think…she meant it as some sort of symbolic bonding experiment. But I don’t know. We’re kind of unbondable.”
“Got the feeling I interrupted a near-melee this afternoon.”
“Aaron called my soufflĂ© decent.” A strand of dark hair caught on her lips when she shook her head. It took one hundred percent of his impulse control not to tug it away, but she beat him to it, anyhow. “It sounds silly now.”
“Nah.” Jasper couldn’t help leaning in to get a whiff of cooking spices. “He would have had it coming just for dressing like a preacher on a weekday.”
Another one of those quiet, smoky laughs. “I guess there’s a fine line between politician and preacher.”
“Politician?” Jasper shivered, then recalled the threat Rita’s brother had leveled at his head back on the highway. “Still, I can’t help but like him for wanting you safe from a stranger. He can’t be all that bad if he worries about you.”
“Worried might be an exaggeration,” Rita said.
When her golden-brown gaze lit on his mouth, Jasper realized he’d moved into her personal space without any conscious thought. One of her knees brushed the denim covering his hip and, God help him, if the bar were empty he would’ve been between her split thighs before she could call for Jesus. For someone who hadn’t felt more than a passing appreciation for the opposite sex in years, his libido was sure trying to play catch-up tonight.
“What are you thinking about?”
Lie. He had to lie. I want to strip you down and fuck you on this seat, but I’m trying my hand at being a gentleman, was not an acceptable line. It was too aggressive when she seemed spooked merely from his close proximity. But she was leaving, leaving his town tomorrow, and the slow-game option had been ambitious for Jasper when he knew nothing about it. So he’d tell the truth while leaving out the oh-so-dirty reality in his pants. “I was thinking it would have been a goddamn shame if you’d broken down one town over.” His voice was gravel, so he cleared it. “More than a shame. I’m kind of finding it hard to think about, if you want to know the truth.”
For long moments, he couldn’t hear a single sound in the loud bar. No music, no crunching ice or raucous laughter. And, somehow, he knew she couldn’t hear the noise, either. It was there in the perplexity of her expression. He expected her to call bullshit or make a joke, but she didn’t. She shocked him instead.
“I’ll think I’ll take that kiss now.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

About FIRE IN YOU:

From the # 1 New York Times and International bestselling author comes a richly moving story about heartbreak and guilt, second chances and hope. Full of familiar, fan-favorite characters and no two people more deserving of a happy ending, Fire In You will burn bright beyond the last page…

Jillian Lima’s whole world was destroyed in a span of a few hours. The same night her childhood love, Brock ‘the Beast’ Mitchell, broke her heart, her life was irrevocably altered by the hand of a stranger with a gun. It takes six years to slowly glue together the shattered pieces of her life, but Jillian is finally ready to stop existing in a past full of pain and regret. She takes a job at her father’s martial arts Academy and she’s going out on her first date since a failed relationship that was more yuck than yum. Jillian is determined to start living.

She just never expected Brock to be a part of her life again. But he’s firmly back in her life before she knows it, and not only is he older, he’s impossibly more handsome, more teasing and more everything. And when he sees Jillian, he’s no longer capable of thinking of her as the little girl who was his shadow growing up or the daughter of the man who gave him a second chance at life. He sees the woman who’d always been there for him, the one person who believed in him no matter what.

Brock knows she’s the one he should’ve made his, and what begins as a tentative friendship quickly turns to red-hot chemistry that sparks a flame that burns brighter than lust. Falling for Brock again risks more than her heart, because when the sorrow-filled and guilt-ridden past resurfaces, and a web of lies threatens to rip them apart, the fallout could lay waste to everything they’ve fought to build together, and destroy the dreams of those they care most about.

 EXCERPT:
Making my way through the narrow pathways between the tables, I headed back toward the bathroom. Only once I pushed open the double doors and stopped in front of the water-spotted mirror did I realize I’d left my purse at the table, so there’d be no reapplying my lipstick.

I pumped soap onto my hands and waved them under the facet. Water flowed, washing away the suds as I slowly lifted my gaze to my reflection. Normally when I looked at myself, I didn’t really pay attention longer than was necessary to put makeup on without ending up looking like a tutorial gone wrong.

Standing here now, I really looked at myself, though.

I used to wear my hair up all the time, but I’d stopped doing that every day. My hair now hung in waves and the ends curled over the tips of my breasts. I also used to have heavy bangs, but thank God they were long gone. I’d finally learned how to put on eyeliner. That was another miracle. The slight flush of my face darkened my naturally tan skin. My lips were fuller and my nose straight.

My hair was parted to sweep to the left so it shielded my cheek…and my cheek didn’t look that bad, especially considering how it looked the first time I’d seen it after…after days in the hospital.

Hell, my entire face had been one hot mess.

There was a deep indentation in my left cheek, almost like an icepick had been shoved in there, and as I stared at my right jaw line, I was still amazed by what reconstructive plastic surgeons could accomplish. Half my face had literally been pieced back together with an iliac crest graft with a reconstruction plate and a crap ton of dentistry to give me back a full set of functional teeth.

Plastic surgeons didn’t have magic wands, but they were magicians. If you weren’t looking at me straight on, you’d have no idea that my right jaw was thinner than my left.

You’d have no idea what had happened to me that night.

Now I stared back at myself just like I had done that night, six years ago, standing in a bathroom, mere minutes before my entire life came crashing down.

It wasn’t that I hated the way I looked now. The fact that I was alive meant I was one of those rare, walking and breathing statistics.

But even knowing how lucky I was didn’t change the fact that I felt…deformed. That was a harsh word to use. I didn’t like to whip it out often. Doing so on what was so far a pretty good date was probably not a good idea.

Taking a deep breath, I shook my head. I didn’t need my thoughts going in that direction tonight. So far, the dinner had been amazing. Grady was nice and he was cute. I could maybe see myself going out with him again, to an art exhibit, and maybe coffee.

And that was what had freaked me out.

I was not going to let living freak me out.

Nope.

I could give him a chance and not worry about whether or not I was settling.

Turning from the sink, I dried my hands and then readjusted my hair so it fell forward, over my left shoulder and cheek. I walked out of the bathroom and into the narrow hall, gaze trained on the floor as I took about two steps before I realized someone was standing right outside the door, leaning against the wall. Before I nearly plowed into him.

Gasping, I took a step back. All I could see were finely cut black trousers paired with…with old black and white Chucks? What an odd combination, but those shoes reminded me of…

I gave a little shake of my head and stepped to the side. “Sorry. Excuse—”

“Jillian.”

I stopped.

Time stopped.

Everything stopped except my heart, because it was suddenly pounding in my chest too hard, too fast. That deep, rough voice. I recognized it all the way to my very core. Slowly, I lifted my gaze, already knowing what I was going to see but refusing to believe it.

Brock Mitchell stood in front of me.

My Review:  The Wait for You Series by Jennifer Armentrout/J. Lynn has been one that I've thoughly enjoyed, and this last book, Fire in You, does not dissapoint.  After suffering a terrible tragedy, Jillian Lima has been a recluse of sorts.  Scarred by her trauma, she has been kind of living life on the outside looking in, but not really participating.  Yes, a part of that is because of the scars she has suffered on the outside, scars which have long since healed.  Then, there are the scars on the inside, those caused by the man who broke her heart, who was also her best friend.  Unfortunately, those scars have seemed to heal only to be ripped open again time and time again.  Now 6 years later, Jillian is ready to start trying to live again, taking a job at her Father's company, vowing to once again enter the land of the living and put the past along with all that it entails behind her.....that is until she sees "HIM" again.  Jillian is thrown for another loop when she shows up for her first day at work only to find out that her boss is the man she is trying to move on from.....Brock Mitchell himself, in the flesh, hotter than hot, and more beautiful than she could ever imagine.

Brock Mitchell has realized the mistakes he's made, especially those regarding Jillian, and he's ready to make things right.  He's also missed his best friend, the girl he has desperately tried to think of as a little sister, only Jillian Lima is not so little anymore.  Brock also has to admit that he hasn't thought of her as a sister for a long time, and is determined to have her back, even if he can only have her as a friend.  Brock is older now, more mature, and realizes the mistakes he's made, putting 6 years of mistakes and the person he made them with behind him, ready for a fresh start.

Fire in You is their story, a story of redemption, of friendship and love lost,  then found again, of trust lost and trust regained, and of a passion that burns brighter and hotter than a wildfire.  I loved Brock and Jillian's story, and I enjoyed getting to see the other characters from the previous novels in the series make an appearance as well.  The only thing I would have liked is for it to go on a little longer - didn't want to see it end just yet, though it did end well, That said, Fire in You was wonderful and definitely one fans of the series, fans of the author, and contemporary fans in general will most definitely want to check out.

Review Tour and Release Blast: Hold My Breath by Ginger Scott with Giveaway

We're celebrating the release of HOLD MY BREATH by Ginger Scott! Check out the review, teasers, and giveaway below!

HOLD MY BREATH
NA Contemporary Romance-Stand Alone
Scheduled to release: November 18, 2016

BLURB:
Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.

I would know.

They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger
brother Evan be the one to shine.

Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.

The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.

My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.

And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.

In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

My Review:   Ginger Scott has written, yet again, another story that will grip your heart and mind in Hold My Breath.  Will and Maddy are both athletes, swimmers actually.  Maddy's parents are both former olympic athletes who want nothing more than to see their daugher following in their footsteps. Will had been headed down the road to Olympic Gold as well, until a terrible tragedy caused their lives to change forever.

Evan, Will's brother and Maddy's boyfriend, has been dead fo a while now.  She and Will haven't spoken at all.  Anger and grief still threatens to consume her, even now.  Suddenly, she has no choice but to confront her issues and the man she has avoided because her father arranges for him to train with her.  The tension between the two is so thick you could cut it with a knife.  Gradually, these two find their way back to the friendship they once had, and the feelings that neither admitted to that were much stronger than friendship.  But without Evan, feelings of guilt, anger, love, and betryal are faced by both of them time and time again, especially one Evan' secret is revealed.

Hold My Breath is not only a gripping story that sucks you into the lives of its characters, but also a story that hurts your heart, has you cheering inside for the characters, and makes you smile all at the same time. The roller-coaster they are on as all this takes place proves to be one heck of a ride.  Once your on, all you can do at times is just hold on and go with it, experiencing emotions from one end of the scale to the other as these friends face their pain and their pasts, and find each other once again, while a love they didn't know existed emerges from the rubble of a once broken relationship.  You will definitely want to pick this story

Review: Weregirl by C.D. Bell

Weregirl
by C.D. Bell
Published:  November 1, 2016
Publisher:  Chooseco

Goodreads  |  Amazon  |  Barnes and Noble

Eager to escape her small hometown, high school junior Nessa Kurland is focused on winning a college scholarship for cross-country running. A chance encounter with a trapped wolf while out on a run leads to powerful and frightening changes, and one day, Nessa is transformed into a full werewolf. Now Nessa must navigate the challenges of high school while coming face to face with true human darkness, as she tries to make peace with her new wild nature.

My Thoughts:  Weregirl is the first book in a triology written by C.D Bell.  I must admit, I was first drawn in by the title and the cover, but in addition to that, I found Weregirl to be a well-written first installment featuring a girl who becomes a werewolf and all the trials and tribulations she must endure.

Nessa is the main character in the novel.  I found the story to be an entertaining and creative take on werewolves, especially the female version.  Nessa faces a lot of challenges, some fun and some not so fun, in Weregirl.  She is determined to leave the small town she lives in and has been working hard towards that goal by trying to earn a scholarship.  The one thing she didn't count on, however, was getting bitten by a wolf and subsequetly becoming one herself.  Another thing she didn't count on was the conspiracy that she finds out about related to a company in her town, what they are doing, and who they are doing this to.

There is a little romance mixed in the story and the secondary characters were intriguing as well.  I do have my suspicions about Nessa's love interest in the story, so I was glad to find out the story was going to be a triology.  Overall, I enjoyed Weregirl.  This YA novel has a mix of danger, conspiracy, and suspense, and of course wouldn't be complete without the romantic component as well.   The ending of the novel leaves you with some unanswered questions, thus setting the stage for the next installment, which I am looking forward to reading.  If you enjoy YA paramornal then Weregirl is something you will want to add to your TBR list,

When his company orders him to the LOVE ADDICTS ANONYMOUS Rehab Center, he better get his affairs in order or else he loses his seat on the company board.

Love isn’t supposed to be addictive.

But for Vicky Sullivan it is.
A true romantic at heart, she comes with a bit of a stalking tendency, and is completely not adverse to commitment. But who’s Kade to judge? As someone who’s seeking commitment and afraid of never finding love, she’s the type of woman he wouldn’t usually hit on. Except, she’s hot and keeps avoiding him…yes, even after seeing his private parts naked in all their glory.
Kade isn’t known as the tall, dark and ruthless businessman for no reason. Romance isn’t in the air, more like wild between the sheets action with no expectations. Vicky’s convinced she can resist, but Kade has other plans for her.

Can Vicky stay away from the one man who seems so easy to get and so hard to keep?

Note: This ends in a cliffhanger. This sexy romantic comedy is the first part of a three-part series of novellas between 25k and 35k words each. Parts Two and Three will be released within the next few weeks. A story you don't want your nan to read! Told from alternate point of view, it will have you blushing hard and laughing out loud.
