                              SHADE'S LADY - cover

New York Times bestselling author Joanna Wylde returns to the world of the Reapers Motorcycle Club…

Looking back, none of this would’ve happened if I hadn’t dropped my phone in the toilet. I mean, I could’ve walked away from him if I’d had it with me.

Or maybe not.

Maybe it was all over the first time he saw me, and he would’ve found another way. Probably—if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that Shade always gets what he wants, and apparently he wanted me.

Right from the first.

couple kissing on motorcycle

“You’re full of sh*t!” I said, waving my hand grandly. My drink sloshed and I licked the side of the cup, because this whiskey was way too good to waste even a single drop. “Wonder Woman is better than Batman. She’s got real power, not just fancy toys. Although she has those, too, which means anything Batman can do, she can do better.”
“Nope,” Shade said, shaking his head seriously. “She’s hot, I’ll give her that, but he’d take her in a fair fight.”
I held up a hand for him to wait as I polished off my booze.
“No way. She’s a goddess of war and she’s one of the best hand-to-hand fighters in history. She’s got an invisible jet, for God’s sake. How can you compete with that? All he has is a bunch of money and the stupid Batmobile.”
“Hand over the cup,” Shade said, narrowing his eyes.
“Why?” I asked, narrowing mine right back. I was good and drunk now, and I wasn’t sure I was ready to be done for the night.
“Demonstration,” he replied. “C’mon. Or are you chicken?”
  “What are we, kindergartners?”
“You’re the one insisting Wonder Woman can take Batman,” he replied. “Chicken.”
Then he leaned toward me, raising a single finger to poke me in the center of my chest. Not copping a feel or anything remotely sexual, either. This was pure taunt. I handed him the cup and he tossed it on the floor, nearly falling off the bed in the process. I smirked—guess I wasn’t the only drunk one. Then he started listing to the side and I lunged for him, grabbing his shirt to keep him from going over.
Shade caught my arm, using the momentum to pull me onto his body with sudden force. My hands hit his chest and I raised my head to stare at him, stunned.
“What the hell are you doing?” I asked. Shade wrapped his arms around my waist, holding me tight to his body.

Review:  I can't tell you how excited I was to get back into the world of the Reapers.  After reading the series, you kind of feel like you are a part of their world and when they're absent for a while, you miss them.  Shade's Lady is, of course, Shade's story.  He is the National President of the Reaper's MC Club now and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him better. Then of course there is Mandy, who is Shade's Lady, or at least that is what she becomes.  I adored Mandy.  She's funny, strong, and you can't help but just love her.  The past has not been kind to her and she's been screwed over by more than one person/man in her life.  This is something that has left her determined to never get in a serious relationship again, convinced that she is cursed when it comes to men.  Mandy is a waitress at the Pit, and is trying to help her sister and her sister's three kids out since her sister divorced her sorry ex-husband, who is nothing but bad news.

A series of very interesting events bring Shade and Mandy together, and while Shade isn't anymore interested in long-term relationship than Mandy is, as the two of them get to know each other better,  one day just keeps leading into the next and neither one seems to want things to end.  Shade is super badass and also hot, but he also is somewhat more....well let's just say he isn't the jerk that some of the other hotties have been at times in the other books.  He means business, and everyone does what he says, but he also has a power that radiates from him... in the way he looks, acts, and speaks, that has gotten him to where he is today.

When danger threatens Mandy and her sister's family, he's there for them and takes care of it in Reaper's fashion, leaving Mandy's head spinning over what he's willing to do for her.  I loved watching their relationship develop, and also loved seeing her sister get her happy ending as well.  The story is great, the romance is hot, and fans of the series, as well as fans of MC romances are going to love Shade's Lady.  The only complaint I have is that I didn't want it to end.  Definitely pick this one up.

Review: Seduce Me Cowboy by Maisey Yates from Harlequin

Seduce Me Cowboy
(Copper Ridge #3)
by Maisey Yates
  • Mass Market Paperback: 224 pages
  • Publisher: Harlequin Desire (March 7, 2017)

Goodreads  |  Amazon  |  Barnes and Noble

When a rebellious rancher meets the pastor's daughter, it's a match made in…Copper Ridge!

Sheltered from her own desires for so long, Hayley Thompson wants to experience life. A new job at Gray Bear Construction is a start. The work she can handle. It's her boss—reclusive, sexy Jonathan Bear—who's scrambling her mind and her hormones…

No matter how successful he becomes, Jonathan's reputation will always precede him. And his type of woman is usually nothing like prim, innocent Hayley. Yet he can't resist unleashing the fire beneath her pent-up facade—even if seduction means losing his heart…

My Review:  Seduce Me Cowboy by Maisey Yates is one of those good books you just want to curl up in a chair and lose yourself in.  I mean who doesn't love a hot cowboy, even the ornery kind, like Jonathan Bear.  Jonathan Bear may be ornery, aloof,  known as a womanizer, and quite scary, but he finds he meets his match in Haley Thompson, the sweet little Pastor's daughter who is trying to strike out on her own and find herself.

The last thing Haley expected, and definitely the last thing Jonathan Bear expected, was the effect they would have on each other, and that sweet Haley wasn't afraid to stand up to this cantankerous and sexy man.  She takes him by surprise and makes him feel and think things he isn't comfortable with, do things he doesn't normally do, and lose control in situations where he never loses control.  Haley, who is struggling to find out who she is and thinks she needs to leave the town she has lived in all her life in order to do that, discovers a strength within her self that she never thought she'd have, all thanks to this man that changes her life - even if it means she might lose him.

Seduce Me Cowboy is an wonderful story that is filled with romance, passion, and is something contemporary romance fans will love to lose themselves in.  Definetely add this to your TBR list.

His passion is absolute, and when he focuses it on one woman, there's no turning back for either of them.

Every Little Thing by Samantha Young: Reviw and Giveaway

Every Little Thing
Hart's Boardwalk #2
by Samantha Young
  • Publisher: Berkley (March 7, 2017)
  • Publication Date: March 7, 2017
  • Sold by: Penguin Group (USA) LLC

Goodreads  |  Amazon  |  Barnes and Noble

Hartwell, Delaware—the perfect place to get away from it all, and find what you never knew you needed…

Bailey Hartwell has many reasons to feel content—her successful business, a close circle of friends, and her steady boyfriend…even if their romance feels staid after ten years without a serious commitment. The only challenge in her life comes in the form of sexy businessman Vaughn Tremaine. She thinks the ex-New Yorker acts superior and that he considers her a small-town nobody. But when Bailey’s blindsided by a betrayal, she’s shocked to discover Vaughn is actually a decent guy.

Vaughn admires Bailey’s free spirit, independence, and loyalty. As his passion for her has grown, his antagonism toward her has only worsened. Every little thing Bailey does seduces him. But when Vaughn’s painful emotional past makes him walk away in fear he will hurt her, it opens an old wound in Bailey, and she uncharacteristically retreats.

Once Vaughn begins to realize he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he has no choice but to fight like he’s never fought before to convince Bailey that the love they’ve found together only comes around once in a lifetime.

My Review:  Fans of Samantha Young will love her Hart's Boardwalk Series.  Every Little Thing is the second book in the series and I absoltuely loved it.  While Every Little Thing can easily be read as a standalone novel, if you read The One Real Thing, the first book in the series, then you are already familiar with the main characters in this book, Bailey Hartwell and Vaugh Tremaine.  I loved Bailey in the The One Real Thing and have been impatiently awaiting her story, which most definitely did not disappoint.  I absolutely fell in love with her in Every Little Thing, and while I have been curious about the "real" Vaughn Tremaine, I can definitely say I totally loved him as well.

Bailey and Vaughn's love story is one that has had a slow build-up of hidden desire masked by the appearance that neither of these two could stand each other.  While Vaughn has always known he was attracted to Bailey, he just simply covered it up by his attitude.  Bailey, on the other hand, has been in denial about her attraction to Vaughn, and has convinced herself she can't stand him, despite the weird attraction she always feels when she sees him.  After a series of unfortunate events unfold, Bailey, who had previously been in a long-term relationship, is suddenly single again, something that Vaughn just doesn't know quite how to handle, and quite frankly, neither does Bailey.  After a dangerous event causes Vaughn to prove himself somewhat of a hero, gratitude ignites a red hot passion that these two aren't quite sure how to deal with after the fact.

I must say Vaughn does a good job in proving himself to Bailey, and just when he thinks he's won her over, he realizes that he doesn't think he can give her the one thing she needs most of all, and faces losing her altogether before realizing what a idiot he was.  If he thought proving himself was tough before, he has his work cut out for him this time, and while all this is happening, there is a lot of drama, fun, romance, and even a little danger in the mix that proves to be quite entertaining and enjoyable for the reader.  Vaughn totally won my heart by the end of the story.

If you love Samantha Young, you'll most definitely want to grab a copy of Every Little Thing just a soon as you can.  The books is awesome and something all contemporary romance fans will most definitely enjoy.  I can't wait to see what Young has in store for her readers in the next installment.

Review: Next to Never by Penelope Douglas

Next to Never
(Fall Away #4.5)
by Penelope Douglas
Published:  January 17, 2017
Publisher:  Penguin Publishing Group

Goodreads  |  Amazon  |  Barnes and Noble

New York Times bestseller Penelope Douglas introduces Quinn, younger sister to Jared, Madoc, and Jaxon, in the latest novella in the series that began with Jared and Tate in Bully....

Quinn Caruthers has several problems.

Her father, Jason, and her three older brothers, Jared, Madoc, and Jaxon.

Under the close watch of the men in her family, Quinn has found it nearly impossible to spread her wings—or even date—without them jumping in to hover. And when a family friend—several years older—from her childhood captures her heart, she knows they’re going to be a problem. Lucas Morrow is a man—experienced, sophisticated, and important. And knowing her brothers, he may as well be forbidden.

But Lucas left town years ago and shows no signs of returning. Quinn knows she shouldn’t wait for him anymore.

But then a package turns up on her doorstep with no return address and its contents reveal family secrets that threaten to turn Quinn’s world upside down. She’s never asked about the tumultuous path of her parents’ romantic history, but she soon learns their happy marriage had a very rocky and passionate start.

As she begins to see things around her with new eyes, Quinn will have to make tough choices about whether she’ll keep waiting…or finally go after what she really wants.

*Next to Never is a 60,000 word novella from Quinn's point-of-view. It is not her love story. That will be a full-length novel eventually. This story covers some family history, introduces the new generation, and catches up with the original couples.

My Review:  The Fall Away Series from Penelope Douglas is one that I've thoroughly enjoyed reading.  Next to Never is a novella told through Quinn Caruthers' eyes.  To understand and appreciate the family dynamic I do recommend reading the series in order, or you really want know who's who, or where and how they fit into the picture.  That said, I can gaurantee you will truly enjoy reading the novels, as well as getting to know the characters that you will find in those novels.  Next to Never occurs a number of years after the original four novels end, and I loved getting to see the original characters as they've grown older and get to know their children as well.

Quinn is the little sister of Jared and Madoc by blood, and Jaxon, though not actually by blood.  She's been somewhat sheltered by her family, especially her brothers, but she's grown up now and getting ready to graduate and start her own life adventures.   She receives a package that rocks her world, and not in a way that that term typically implies.  Her eyes are opened to all the drama, history, and heartache that occured long before she was in the picture, and that history changes her whole world.

The story isn't her own love story, but that of her parent's, which was quite heartbreaking, even though they ended up happy and well, revealing a side of her parents she never knew.  Truthfully, I am not nor have I ever been a fan of her father, Jason,  even after reading this novella.  Grant you, he did the right thing in the end and has his family's best interest at heart, but he did not win me over at all despite that fact.  That said, the story is really good and my not liking Jason didn't affect that in the least.  In fact, I think there are readers who will both like and dislike Jason when they read it also.  I enjoyed getting the history. or I guess I should say, the beginning and the events that lead up to the previously written installments in the series.

Penelope Douglas also lays the groundwork for what will be Quinn's own lovestory and I know it is going to be phenomenal and can't wait to read it.  Overall, Never to Never is a wonderful read that fans of the series will most definitely enjoy.
