Working as an informant for the DEA, Victoria Monzelle is used to living on the edge. But she’s not a big fan of getting kidnapped. And definitely not by a bunch of bad boy witches with fancy-colored fire to shoot at people. So when Adam Dunne shows up and claims to be a witch enforcer, she’s not going to put her life in his hands based on his word, no matter how smooth and smart and beautifully Irish his words sound. But on the run from a tribunal of witches, she isn’t going to make it far . . .

Before she knows it, Adam’s word is all that stands between her and execution. Sophisticated, just-gotta-ruffle-him Adam has vowed to make her his one eternal mate, wild and unpredictable as she is—to save her from a sentence of certain death. But Tori isn’t interested in being anyone’s pity date. And if they think she’s unpredictable now, they should see what’s coming next.

My Thoughts:  Being a huge Rebecca Zanetti fan I couldn't wait to read the latest installment in her Realm Enforcers series, Wicked Kiss.  Adam Dunne is a an witch and is also an enforcer for the Coven 9.  Adam has been undercover as part of a motorcycle club, in an effort to find the source of a new drug which can kill humans and is detrimental to witches.   Victoria Monzelle is outspoken and a little on the wild side, with her purple streaked hair and fearless attitude.  She and the Irish witch couldn't be more different and let's just say they prove the theory that opposites attract and then some.

Victoria has unfortunately found herself on the radar of the police - the human ones.  When circumstances surrounding the investigation force these two together, things get really heated both emotionally and physically, resulting in the Coven ordering Tori's demise and Adam vowing to make her his mate in order to safe her life.  The hot witch is a force to be reckoned with, and this little human woman tests everthing within him, giving him a run for his money.

In true Rebecca Zanetti style, Wicked Kiss is filled with suspense, action, danger, romance and all the hot supernatural beings that fans of this and her Dark Protectors series have come to know and love.  Wicked Kiss is a wonderful addition to the Realm Enforcers series and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait to delve into the next book.  Definitely check this one out.

A beautiful computer hacker and a bad-boy FBI agent must collaborate—in more ways than one—in the sizzling new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood.

Allison Trent doesn’t look like a hacker. In fact, when she’s not in college working on her degree, she models on the side. But behind her gorgeous face is a brilliant mind for computers and her real love is writing—and hacking—code. Her dream is to write a new security program that could revolutionize the tech industry.

Hotshot FBI agent Liam Scott has a problem: a leak deep within his own department. He needs the skills of a top-notch hacker to work on a highly sensitive project: to secretly break into the FBI servers and find out who the traitor is. But he can’t use one of his own. He finds the perfect candidate in Allison. Only, there’s one problem—she wants nothing to do with his job and turns him down flat.

What Liam doesn’t know is that Allison is hiding secrets that she doesn’t want the FBI to uncover. But Liam will do nearly anything to persuade her to join his team, even break a few rules if that’s what it takes. A temptation that could put his job—and both of their futures—on the line…
and longing for more.

My Thoughts:  Wired is the first book I've read by Julie Garwood and I found it to be quite enjoyable.  Allison Trent is a beautiful woman whose life has been anything but easy growing up.  She is also a world-class computer hacker who is attending college and models on the side to pay the bills, a job she could easily make a career of if she so desired.  Liam Scott is a somewhat mysterious FBI agent who travels all over solving cases.  When his most recent case requires the skills of a far above average hacker, he finds and tries to recruit Allison, only she doesn't want the all.   Allison has secrets that could get her in a lot of trouble, although the things she's done were never for her own benefit.  When the lines become blurred between work and something much more intimate, thing get even more interesting.

Wired has suspense, danger, and romance all encompassed in a great story, and is something that fans of contemporary romance and romantic suspense should certaily consider checking out.

Kylie Masters watched him walk into her shop like he owned it while simultaneously pretending not to notice him. A tricky balancing act that she’d gotten good at. Problem was, like it or not, her attention was caught and captured by the six foot, leanly muscled, scowling guy now standing directly in front of her, hands shoved in his pockets, body language clearly set to Frustrated Male.

She sighed, gave up the ridiculous pretense of being engrossed by her phone, and met his gaze. She was supposed to smile and ask how she could help him. That’s what they all did when it was their turn to work the front counter at Reclaimed Woods. They were to show potential clients their custom made goods when what they really wanted was to be in the back workshop on their own, individual projects. Kylie’s specialty was dining room sets, which meant she wore a thick apron and goggles to protect herself and was perpetually covered in sawdust.

And she did mean covered in sawdust. Wood flakes dusted her hair, stuck to her exposed arms, and if she’d been wearing any makeup today, they’d have been stuck to her face as well. In short, she was not looking how she wanted to be looking while facing this man again. Not even close. “Joe,” she said in careful greeting.

He gave her a single head nod.

Okay, so he wasn’t going to talk first. Fine. She’d be the grownup today. “What an I do for you?” she asked, fairly certain he wasn’t here to shop for furniture. He wasn’t exactly the domesticated type.

Joe ran a hand through his hair so that the military short, dark silky strands stood straight up. He wore a black t-shirt stretched over broad shoulders, loose over tight abs, untucked over cargos that emphasized his mile-long legs. He was built like the soldier he’d been not too long ago, as if keeping fit was his job – which given what he did for a living, it absolutely was. He shoved his mirrored sunglasses to the top of his head, revealing ice blue eyes that could be hard as stone when working but she knew that they could also soften when he was amused, aroused, or having fun. He was none of those three things at the moment.

She’ll love him forever . . . but he can’t make her obey . . .

The war is over. Danger has passed. Cara Kayrs is healed after decades of illness and ready for a break.

Too bad her brooding, alpha vampire husband can’t seem to change gears. In their twenty-five years together Talen Kayrs has learned to sense every shiver of her body, to ignite her desire with a word or a look. She would think he could learn she’s not some fragile damsel in distress.

But Talen is on edge, watching their backs, treating her like she’s made of glass. Like there’s something following them, a deadly threat that somehow none of their intelligence has uncovered. It’s enough to drive a woman crazy, and Talen has plenty of those tendencies already.

But what’s even more maddening is that he seems to be right . . .

Librarian Note: This novella is also included in 'Wicked Burn (Realm Enforcers, #3)'

My Thoughts:   Talen is a short novella, which is as the title says, Talen and Cara Kayrs story...well 25 years later anyway.  The war is over, and despite the physical attraction and chemistry that has always been between them, something isn't quite right.  Cara is well now and looking forward to finally being able to take an actual vacation with her hot vampire husband.   Despite the war being over, danger is still very present,  and that danger is focused on Cara.  Talen, of course, is all hot badass vampire and he isn't about to let anything touch Cara.  His most difficult obstacle, however, is Cara herself, who wants in on the action, despite her husband and son's wishes to the contrary.

Talen is a great novella and fans of the series will enjoy and appreciate seeing this update on one of their favorite couples and the family they now have.  The romance is hot and Cara finds out, now that she is well, just how much Talen has been holding out  -  or I guess I should say, holding back on her in that department, and is it ever hot.  It is also a bridge connecting The Dark Protectors Series and the Realm Enforcer's Series and something fans of Rebecca Zanetti will definitely enjoy.

Review: Sin for Me (Motor City Royals #3) by Jackie Ashenden

Sin For Me
(Motor City Royals #3)
By Jackie Ashenden
Published:  March 28, 2017
Publisher:  Kensington

Goodreads  |  Amazon  |  Barnes and Noble

It was anything but easy, but Gideon Black has finally managed to create a safe haven for himself on the gritty streets of Detroit. He worked hard to get on the straight and narrow, pulling himself up from an underground crime syndicate before it consumed him completely. But the past isn't staying put, and now that it's come calling, it's not after him, but the woman he considers the closest thing he has to family . . .

Zoe James has always loved Gideon more than anything in the world. She knows he only wants to keep her safe, but his overprotectiveness has taken over her life and it's got to stop. She's sick of him treating her like a little girl, but is she woman enough to handle the truth when it finally comes out?

As old enemies close in, a complicated but undeniable passion is growing between them. Gideon tries to hold on to Zoe and keep her safe, but he may have to let her go in order to save them both . . .

My Thoughts:  I've read quite a few of Jackie Ashenden's books and the Motor City Royals series is one that I've especially enjoyed.  SIN FOR ME is the third book in the series, and is Gideon and Zoe's story.  I must say, I've been dying to read their story since the beginning.  Gideon has a history, one that he isn't proud of, one that lead him to Zoe and resulted in his rescuing her and bringing her to live with him to raise, even though he wasn't that much older than Zoe.  Gideon has a commanding presence and Zoe has begun to test him and his overprotective nature.  Zoe has always loved Gideon, but Zoe's no longer a little girl, and is more than ready to test her wings, and if Gideon won't help her do that, she's determined to find someone who will.

Gideon has a dark side, however, and the secrets that he has been keeping regarding Zoe and his past have finally come out in the open.  Gideon's dark side also involes the bedroom, and he is quickly becoming well aware that Zoe is no longer a little girl.  He's determined to make her see what a bad guy he really is, something that  backfires on him big time.

SIN FOR ME is hot, sexy, and dangerous, and I loved seeing these two characters battle through their past and present in order to have a future together.  I loved seeing what was going on with the other characters in the series as well.  Overall, I enjoyed SIN FOR ME and would definitely recommend checking it out.

Maybe This Love by Jennifer Snow from Forever: Release Blitz with Excerpt, Review, and Giveaway

Title: Maybe This Love
Author: Jennifer Snow
Series: Colorado Ice #2
On Sale: May 30, 2017
Publisher: Forever
Formats: Mass Market
Price: $7.99 (mass market)

Hockey player Ben Westmore has some serious skills---on and off the ice---and he's not above indulging in the many perks of NHL stardom. When a night in Vegas ends in disaster, he realizes two things: 1) it's time to lie low for a while, and 2) he needs a lawyer---fast. But the smoking-hot woman who walks into his office immediately tests all his good intentions.

Olivia Davis doesn't need anyone derailing her career---or her dreams of starting a family---least of all a skirt-chasing player like Ben. But soon he's unleashing a full-court press to convince her that he's the real deal. She's slowly falling for his sweet, rugged charm, but with so much on the line, Olivia has to decide whether Ben can truly change---or if he's just playing the game.

“Relax,” he said smoothly, his gaze locked on hers, his expression soft, unfazed—the look of a man not dancing with the lawyer who could ruin his life or at least playoff season. She had to learn this guy’s secret, because there was no way he was this unaffected. Yet, his hands weren’t sweating the ways hers threatened to, and the only heartbeat she could hear thundering was her own.
She forced a slow and what she hoped was unobvious breath. “I am relaxed. I’m not the one who should be worried.”
The palm of his hand spread across the exposed flesh of her back and she prayed the tingling sensation in her spine didn’t result in goose bumps. “So you’re saying I should be?” he asked, turning them in rotation to the steady beat. Despite her resistance to this dance, her hips betrayed her by swaying in sync with his, and her feet kept time with his every step. He led with a silent authority that she was forced to follow. And for the first time in her life, she wasn’t hating giving up control.
“I think so, yes. My client is…”
He brought their joined hands between them and placed a finger to her lips.
Her heart all but stopped.
“Why don’t we save the shop talk for the courtroom? Let’s just enjoy this dance.”
She swallowed hard, but nodded. Dancing in silence, she could do that.
Unfortunately, Ben seemed eager to chat. “How long have you been practicing law?”
He expected her to remember stats as his hand on her back dipped slightly lower, his hold drawing her even closer? It had been far too long since she’d been enveloped in the arms of a man who felt and smelled so strong, so confident…How long would it be again if she went ahead with her plans for a baby? She pushed the thought aside when he stared at her, still waiting for an answer. “Twelve years,” she said, cutting out her time as a junior lawyer and intern, so as not to age herself. She knew from his online Wikipedia page that he was thirty-four, two years younger than she.
“Do you love what you do?” he asked.
“If I say no will I get the inspirational ‘do what you love and it will never feel like work’ speech?”
Is that a no?”
She shook her head. “Actually, I really do enjoy my job.” She couldn’t say watching families get ripped apart by bitter divorces was something she loved without sounding like a sociopath, but she enjoyed her career.
“Can I ask why only professional athlete divorces?”
“I was dumped by a jock,” she said.
Ben laughed. “So one guy ruined it for us all, huh?”
She nodded then shook her head. “No. Everyday cases—with normal, everyday husbands and wives—just seemed a little too…real,” she said.
His blue eyes burned into her and his grip tightened on her hand. “So, guys like me aren’t real?”
She swallowed hard. He felt real…He felt more than real—he felt amazing. His arm wrapped around her felt deceivingly safe and his hand holding hers felt warm and secure. God, she could see herself giving in to these painfully real feelings…“You’re probably one of the more real ones,” she said, hoping he didn’t detect the slight quiver in her voice.
He nodded slowly as though unsure whether her words were a compliment. “Have you ever been married?” he asked, rotating them in time to the music.
“That’s crossing a line into personal.”
“That’s less personal?” She raised an eyebrow.
He smiled. “Guarded much?”
The effect of his smile from a safe distance was knee-weakening. This close, it was downright dangerous. She quickly averted her gaze to the other couples on the floor. “How long is this song anyway?” She felt trapped the way she had in tenth grade when Robbie Gropes-a-Lot Harris had tricked her into dancing with him at the winter formal to “November Rain”—the full eleven-minute extended version. Except Ben’s breath smelled minty fresh and not like tacos, and his arm draped across her lower back made every fiber in her being spring to life, making her want to flee for a completely different reason than the one Robbie had evoked.
“Do I make you uncomfortable?”
Damn right. And it should be her making him uncomfortable. There needed to be a power shift between them and fast. “Of course not.”
He pulled her closer. “You make me uncomfortable,” he murmured, his expression suddenly serious. Every inch of her body was pressed to his and she could barely catch a breath. Dancing was a really bad idea—a torturously bad idea. Being in his arms reminded her of all of the things she’d sacrificed for her career, of all the things she’d told herself she didn’t need…
“G-good,” she said, her voice cracking. “As I said, my client…”
“I don’t mean the divorce case. I mean you.” He touched her cheek and her skin burned. Thank God he was holding her so tightly because she couldn’t trust her legs.
Their stare locked and held for what could have been a lifetime, as everything seemed still and quiet around them.
Still and quiet.
The song had ended.
She yanked her hand free of his and stumbled away from him, inhaling a gulp of air into her deprived lungs. “Well, dance is over. I’ll…uh…see you.”
He nodded, the charming polite smile back on his face and for a second she wondered if she’d imagined the intensity in his gaze seconds before. “Goodnight, Olivia.”
Her own name sounded foreign coming from him. She longed to hear the sound again, and she was an idiot for wanting something so dangerous. The NHL’s biggest playboy had just worked his charm on her, and she’d lost all common sense.
She turned and headed straight for the table, leaving him on the dance floor.
She had to pull it together, but she also had to admit the unfortunate truth. Never before had she been tempted to kiss the enemy.

Excerpted from MAYBE THIS LOVE by Jennifer Snow. Copyright © 2017 by Jennifer Snow. Reprinted with permission of Forever. All rights reserved.

My Thoughts:  Ben Westmore is a hockey player who has the player image down to an art.  One thing he usually rarely, if ever does, is drink....except this one night in Vegas, on New Years Eve...and for celebrities and famous athletes, what happens in Vegas, unfortunately does not stay in Vegas.  It's now four month's down the road, Ben's the Captain of the team, which brings with it a lot of responsibility and pressure.  It's time for playoffs, a time when he needs to focus the most, when what happened in Vegas pretty much jumps up and bites him in the butt, and unfortunatley, he has very little memory of it.

Olivia Davis has established herself as a very prominent attorney who specializes in divorce cases, usually defending professional athletes' "soon to be ex-wifes."  Her career has been her focus for most of her adult life.  She just hasn't had time for relationships and one bad burn from the only relationshipo she did have, has left her a bit gun shy.  Now at 36, she's realized she wants a family, or a baby I should say.  This to, she has determined to do on her own, which is what brought her to where she now resides.

The situation and circumstances which have brought Ben and Olivia together are not the best, but the chemistry between them is undeniable.  Unfortunately, they must deny their attraction, of course, but fate seems to keep throwing them together taking them for one whirlwind of a ride.  They have a lot to work through, both individually and as a couple, if they even consider making a go of it, and when the past comes back to haunt them, well.......let's just say that "someone's got a lot of splaining to do."

Maybe This Love is a fun, sweet, sexy romance which has its share of heated moments both physically, which is always hot, and emotionally, where the " hot" is brought on by heated tempers, but it all makes for a really good read.  The book is the second in the series, but is easily read as a standalone, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  If you are looking to slip into a little weekend getaway that is fun, entertaining, and has that romance that is just like the cherry on top of an icecream sundae, then you'll want to check out Maybe This Love by Jennifer Snow.
