Untraceable by S.R. Johannes

Title: Untraceable
(The Nature of Grace #1)
Author:

Description (From Goodreads):  16-year-old Grace has lived in the Smokies all her life, patrolling with her forest ranger father who taught her about wildlife, tracking, and wilderness survival.

When her dad goes missing on a routine patrol, Grace refuses to believe he’s dead and fights the town authorities, tribal officials, and nature to find him.

One day, while out tracking clues, Grace is rescued from danger by Mo, a hot guy with an intoxicating accent and a secret. As her feelings between him and her ex-boyfriend get muddled, Grace travels deep into the wilderness to escape and find her father.

Along the way, Grace learns terrible secrets that sever relationships and lives. Soon she’s enmeshed in a web of conspiracy, deception, and murder. And it’s going to take a lot more than a compass and a motorcycle (named Lucifer) for this kick-butting heroine to save everything she loves.

My thoughts:  I really loved this book.  Grace's father has been missing for months and everyone believes he is dead, everyone except Grace that is.  The story takes place in the Smoky Mountains, where Grace's father was a forest ranger.  She has spent her whole life going on patrol with her dad, and he taught her all about surviving in the mountains, about the wildlife, and about hunting, fishing, and tracking.  Needless to say, Grace and her mother were devastated when he disappeared while on routine patrol.  Since his disappearance, Grace has spent all her free time searching the mountains for clues as to her father's whereabouts.  The police have given up, but not Grace.  While in the mountains Grace meets Mo, who is quite the hottie and romance ensues.  Mo ends up saving her from more than one perilous situation.  As Grace and Mo's relationship intensifies, she is torn between Mo and her feelings for Wyn, her ex-boyfriend and best friend.  Grace finds herself in the midst of a twisted web of conspiracy and murder on her quest to find out the truth regarding her dad's disappearance.

Untraceable is action packed story, filled with intrigue, suspense, murder, mystery, and some really swoon worthy romance.  I enjoyed the plot of the story, and the characters and secondary characters were all really well written and fun to get to know.  I really admire Grace, she is courageous and brave in the midst of some really intense and dangerous situations.  The plot was intriguing and realistic, with many twists that keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next.  The end is very mysterious and S. R. Johannes has done an excellent job leaving you satisfied and yet longing for the next book in the series.  I would highly recommend this book.  It was enjoyable and a very good read.

  2. This does sound awesome. Great review! I don't think I have this on my to-read list yet, and I keep seeing it. Have you sen the show, The Event? The model on the book looks like one of the main actresses from that show. Every time I see this cover it reminds me of her.
