Description: Darkness has descended on the Transylvanian Alps. Four packs of the powerful Grey wolves – in a rare show of cooperation – had joined together here in an effort to help their pack members find true mates. Then they were betrayed by one of their own – an Alpha hell-bent on becoming the most powerful of the Canis lupis. And though the wolf's assassination attempt on the currently-reigning Romanian Alpha failed, his plans to get Decebel, the Romanian Beta, out of the picture were coming together even as his treachery was discovered. The wolf fled, leaving destruction, death, and a missing mate behind him.
Unbeknownst to the other packs, the wolf has employed a witch to finish the deadly job and help him gain another tool to increase his power. A curse of devastating proportions will cripple Decebel in a way that may dissolve his fragile bond with Jennifer. Meanwhile, injured and alone, Jen has been fighting for her life. She had come to terms with her fate, accepting that she would not share a life with Decebel, until help came in the most unexpected form...
Vasile will have to use all his resources – including Sally, the new gypsy healer of the Romanian pack – to discover a way in which to destroy the witch, lift the curse from Decebel and reunite him with the one woman who makes him whole, and solve a mystery that's been surrounding the Romanian pack for 300 years.
My Thoughts: Quinn Loftis absolutely blew me away with this fourth installment in the Grey Wolves Series. I didn't think it could get any better, but Quinn has done it again with Out of the Dark. This book picks up where Just One Drop leaves off. Jen is missing and Decebel is desperate to find her. Decebel is coordinating moving the pack to a safe place, because his Alpha is recuperating from an attempt on his life, and a fire fueled by evil has consumed the place where they were staying. Decebel knows that the source of what is happening is very evil, and a curse threatens his new bond with Jennifer. We are introduced to witches and the Fae in this book, which is phenomenal, and we get to know more about Rachel, who is also a gypsy healer, and her mate Gavril. Of course Jacque, and Sally are right in the middle of things as they try to find Jen, and where Jacque goes, Fane goes.
Out of the Dark is filled with heart-stopping action, mystery, and drama. Quinn's writing transports you into a mythical world where you encounter werewolves, witches, and get to experience the world of the Fae. I loved getting to see the relationship develop between Jen and Decebel - I just adore this couple, and of course, when you have Jen, Jacque and Sally together, there is never a lack of side-splitting humor, which perfectly balances out the intense situations. I have loved seeing these snarky girls grow and transition in each book of the series. Their bond and their sense of humor is incredible. Oh, we mustn't forget the oh so smoking HOT werewolves, Decebel and Fane, who are completely yummy...."swoon." There are also some exciting developments in Sally's life.
I fell in love with this series when I read the first book, Prince of Wolves, and I am even more in love with it now. It just keeps getting better and better. Quinn's imagination and talent never ceases to amaze me. She keeps taking the story to new levels, adding twists and turns, keeping you on your toes and desperate to see what is happening next, while still enabling you to follow the lives characters you have grown to know and love in an personal way. I am already on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book in the series, and I am looking forward to watching Quinn Loftis continue to astound with her amazing talent.
