Blog Tour: Of Blood and Bone by Courtney Cole

Welcome to my stop on the Blog Tour for Of Blood and Bone by Courtney Cole.  The Tour is sponsored by Kismet Book Touring.  This is the first book in the Minaldi Legacy Series.  Of note, this is an adult book and contains scenes that are for mature readers, 18 and older.

About Of Blood and Bone

As a little boy, Luca Minaldi was told he was a monster.
As an adult, he knows it is true.
He lives in Malta, a fairytale-like place filled with sunshine and sea, beauty and secrets. And Luca’s darkest of secrets is the best kept of them all.
Eva Talbot arrives in Malta for the summer to finish up her doctoral dissertation. When she meets Luca, a mysterious and handsome shipping tycoon, there is an instant attraction, a disturbing and beautiful energy that she has never felt before. But she senses the darkness that lives within him. Eva is hired to care for his mother, who suffers from dementia, but it is Luca who Eva will eventually risk everything to save. Her life becomes a swirling chaos of darkness and romance, of secrets and mystery. And the question that emerges will become the most important answer of all.
Can she save Luca from the darkness that plagues him without losing herself?
The answer is a matter of life or death.
My Thoughts:  Eva Tablet is spending her summer on the beautiful Island of Malta, while she completes her dissertation.  Eva is a psychiatrist.  While there, she meets Luca Minaldi, the most eligible bachelor on the Island.  Luca is rich, handsome, mysterious, aloof, and one of the most beautiful men Eva has ever seen.  Eva prides herself on her ability to read people.  In fact, this is part of what she is working on for her dissertation, but Luca Minaldi is an enigma, a mystery, which both baffles and intrigues her.  Luca ends up hiring her to help at his estate with his mother, who suffers from dementia.  Try as he knows he must, he cannot stay away from Eva.  The darkness that encompasses Luca and tries to consume him, has kept him from having a relationship with anyone, which is the way it should be, or so Luca believes.  Eva brings light to that darkness, and she wants nothing more than to help Luca.  Aware of the risks, she is determined to save him.  She moves to the Minaldi Estate at the insistence of Luca after the murder of several girls in the area.  What she encounters while there, and the depth of her feelings for Luca leave her forever changed.

Of Blood and Bone is different than I expected, and I mean that in a good way.  It has the feel of a psychological thriller, with mystery, suspense, and some really steamy romance.  I liked Eva's character and admired her determination to find an answer for Luca's curse.  Luca radiates hotness.  Not only is he extremely easy on the eyes, he has that mysterious bad boy vibe about him that sucks you right in.  This is a dark romance that will leave your mind and emotions reeling as the mystery plays out.  The book is very intense, as are the issues that are addressed in the book.  It was also very mysterious, and I found myself turning the pages to find out more about Luca, and about the curse that plaques him.  The chemistry between Eva and Luca is sizzling, with some very steamy scenes.  The ending really surprised me, because I really wasn't sure what to expect, and Courtney Cole really surprised me with the place she took this novel.  This is  Cole's first adult novel, and she has done an excellent job bringing the characters and the story to life.  It is not lighthearted, but is very intense and emotional, so be prepared to deal with some very heart wrenching situations.  I enjoyed this story a great deal.  If you love hot romance, mystery, and suspense, with a psychological thriller type feel to it, you should check Of Blood and Bone out.

About Courtney Cole

Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could.
She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. Every Last Kiss is her debut novel and she followed it with the rest of The Bloodstone Saga (Every Last Kiss, Fated, With My Last Breath and My Tattered Bonds).Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.
