My Thoughts:  Camille is 22 years old.  Her life has been pretty normal.  She was raised by a single mom, with no father in the picture.  All that changes when her mother passes away.  With her dying breath, she tells Cami who her father is, and tells her to find him.  It takes a couple of weeks, but she finally gets up the nerve to call him, and he wants to see her as soon as possible.  Though her best friend Daniel has reservations about her going, she goes anyway.  When she arrives in Charleston, Camille finds out that not only does she have a father, she has 5 brothers, very good looking brothers, who are all really happy to see her.  Not only are her brothers happy to see her, but so is Gretchen, her father's wife.  Despite her secret concern that something isn't quite right, she pushes her fears all aside.  However, she soon discovers that "isn't quite right" is an understatement.  Cami finds out that her family is descended from the Centaur bloodline.  Talk about blowing your mind.  Not only does Camille have to come to terms with the fact that she is a Centauride, she also finds out that they have all kinds of customs and beliefs, which are completely foreign to her, yet the Centaurs consider them sacred, especially when it comes to marriage.  In the matter of a few short weeks, Cami loses her mother, finds out she has a father and brothers, and a grandmother that her mom told her was dead, but in fact, is very much alive.  On top of that, she finds out that her mother owes a blood debt to the man she was betrothed to, because she ran off and disappeared, not following through with the marriage.  Since her mom is dead, now Cami is responsible for that debt, but can she agree to the terms set before her, and if she does, what will it cost her?  

I really enjoyed Blood Debt.  I have never read a book about Centaurs, and frankly, wasn't sure about it, but Nancy Straight has done an outstanding job in writing Blood Debt, capturing my interest from the first chapter to the last.  She has creatively incorporated mythology into a modern day setting, and yes, she has even created really hot Centaurs, lots of them.  I really liked Cami's character.  Despite everything that is thrown at her, and it is a lot, she perseveres.  I also like Drake, the Centaur love interest, even though his and Cami's relationship is "complicated....very complicated."  There were some really great secondary characters to, all of which were fun to get to know.  The story moved along at a quick pace, and was really enjoyable, and integrated romance, mythology, kidnapping, and conspiracy.  Straight has done an excellent job taking the mythological Centaur and creating a story that is both entertaining and exciting.  If you love fantasy, mythology, and romance, then you may want to check Blood Debt out.  I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Centaur Legacy.

Nancy was born in Sioux City Iowa, left the cold of the Midwest in 1991 and only returns to see family in the summer time. She spent ten years traveling the world as a US Marine and settled in rural SC with her husband and two children.

She enjoys reading all types of Paranormal and Young Adult literature – so long as there is a love story.  She loves Starbucks’ White Mocha Latte and Mountain Dew, (but not together).
