Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.
Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.
With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.
But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?
Due to sexual content and language, this book is recommended for 17+ – Adult Contemporary Women’s – New Adult Fiction
I'd heard so many good things about this book I couldn't wait to read it. The story was going along and it was good. I loved the characters and the theme, but still was wondering where the awesome was. Well, about 40% into the book the awesome hits you right in the face, and it is ever good. I loved Camryn's character. She has been through a lot, and has many issues, hangups, and fears, but she can be a lot of fun to. I loved watching Andrew bring her out of her shell and help her to find herself. That brings me to Andrew, and let me tell you I am absolutely in love with Andrew. He is hotness personified, has a perfect smile, dimples, and a great personality, yet danger lurks right underneath the surface. He's kind of hot tempered, he's very dominant in and out of bed, and he sings and plays the guitar. I mean it just doesn't get much better than that. The chemistry between these two is sizzling HOT. They also have the most fun with one another. Andrew teaches Camryn how to live, how to love, and how to grab life by the horns and ride it to its fullest. Camryn in turn fills a hole in Andrew's heart that he wasn't even aware existed until he met her. She is his Eurydice, and he is her Orpheus (that will really mean a lot more to you when you read the book).
They shared good times and bad times, and had to face a lot of their fears together, the biggest one being their relationship. The Edge of Never is intense, sexy, fun, humorous, tragic, heart breaking, and heart warming......so yes, you will experience the gamut of emotions in this book. I loved the story, and I loved the characters and their relationship. It was real, raw at times, and extremely hot at others. Towards the end I found myself bawling like a baby, and I get can sad when I read, but rarely do I bawl. Then I found myself smiling from the inside out. This is an outstanding story, and if you love contemporary romance, then this ranks right up there with the best of them.
Meet Andrew, at least this is how I picture him. Hot, isn't he.
“The Heart always wins out over the mind, The heart, although reckless and suicidal and masochist all on its own, always gets it way. The mind may be what's best, but I don't give a shit what my mind is telling me anymore. Right now, I want to live in the moment.”
“I don’t think you ever really fall out of love with someone. I think when you fall in love, like true love, it’s love for life. All the rest is just experience and delusions.”
“Are you in love with me, Camryn Bennett?”
… “Not yet,” I say with a smile in my voice, “but I’m getting there.”
“A woman who knows what she wants sexually, and isn’t afraid to express it is so f***ing hot, Camryn- Tell. Me. What. You. Want. Or, I won’t give it to you.”
“If you were to let me f**k you, you would have to let me own you.”
“Well, everybody needs help feeling alive again every once in a while.” “No,” she says seriously, and my gaze falls back on hers, “I didn’t say again, Andrew; for making me feel alive for the first time.”
“You were the missing piece of my soul, the breath in my lungs, and the blood in my veins.”
About the Author
Author of THE DARKWOODS TRILOGY and DIRTY EDEN, mother, werewolf & zombie fanatic, book addict and a happy hermit obsessed with the Universe. Oh, and AMC’s “The Walking Dead”.
Addictions: Starbucks every morning, trolling Barnes & Noble’s shelves once a week, detesting winter, shopping flea markets and preparing for the collapse of society as we know it. Do I own a tin foil hat? Maybe. :-)
I was born in Arkansas and have lived here most of my life, except the couple of times when I lived in Pennsylvania. I started my first novel at the age of thirteen and have been writing something ever since. Generally, I love characters in life and on paper. I pay attention to people, especially those whose personalities make them different from the rest of us: the drug addict roaming the Laundromat that talks to himself, the young, inattentive mother in the park with the meanest kid on the playground – (the entire cast of ‘Swamp People’) – characters fascinate me and I hope that it shows in my literary work.
