Someone To LovePublished December 21st 2012
What happens when two people who don’t believe in love, happen to fall madly into the most beautiful relationship they could ever imagine? A train wreck.
When twenty-year-old Kendall Jordan transfers clear across country to Garrison University, the last thing she’s looking for is a one-night stand. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what, gorgeous, Cruise Elton offers.
Kendall has long since come to realize that love is an illusion that never lasts, and Cruise couldn’t agree more—but something deep inside her wants him all for herself. So, Kendall devises a seat of the pants plan to “play the player” and proposes that Cruise tutor her in becoming a female version of himself, Garrison University’s own playboy.
Real feelings begin to emerge, and neither Kendall nor Cruise know how to classify them. Everything they once thought they knew is redefined as they discover, in one another, Someone to Love.
My Thoughts: Kendall Jordan has transferred clear across the country from California to Garrison University, where her mother went, looking for a fresh start. Her mother's best friend who she refers to "Aunt Jackie," though she doesn't really know her, has a son Kendall's age, who was supposed to have arranged her dorm room for her. Not only does Pennington not pick her up at the airport, when she arrives at his frat party she finds out he also hasn't arranged her dorm room, so basically, she's homeless. While at the party, Kendall sees this god of a guy, who rings all her bells and then some. He looks like Adonis and has girls hanging all over him, obviously a player. When Cruise Elton sees Kendall, she sets some of his bells ringing to, and he decides he has got to get to know this girl. Kendall is determined not to fall for his game. She has watched her mother go through divorce after divorce, and doesn't know if she really believes in love. One thing is for sure, she doesn't believe in love at first sight. It just so happens that Cruise Ellington doesn't believe in love at first sight either, and happens to be writing his thesis on that very subject. In fact, it is one of the first question's he asks Kendall when they meet, which of course she answers no to, but by the time the story ends, will they have the same response, or will they both have changed of their minds?
When Kendall's last prospect at a place to stay doesn't pan out, Cruise Elton comes along and offers her a ride and invites her for something to eat, along with an underlying invitation for so much more. As they talk, they begin to become friends, Kendall even shares the fact that she has never given up her V-card, and winds up proposing that Cruise make her her a female version of himself, which is a man-whore. Kendall is unwilling to admit that the only man she really wants is Cruise, and Cruise is willing to do what it takes to keep Kendall in his life. Entering upon the scene is Cruise's ex-girlfriend Blaire, who was the cause of his whole man-whoredom issue. She has decided she wants him back. Kendall is unaware of who she is, Cruise is unaware that Kendall even knows Blaire, and Blaire, being the biatch that she is, uses all this to her advantage to try to sabotage everything. Will Kendall and Cruise ever finally be able to admit their true feelings for one another, and if and when they do, can they overcome the many obstacles that are set in front of them and find true love?
Someone To Love is a story of two beautifully broken people coming together and finally realizing that they both really just want someone to love. I loved Kendall, or Kenny as Cruise calls her. She is absolutely beautiful, but completely unaware of it. She has grown up with little, so she doesn't expect much, and is happy and content with a roof over her head, especially if its the same roof that is over Cruise's head. Cruise is one hot tamale, and every girl within a 10-mile radius wants him. The more time he spends with Kendall, the more he realizes how much he cares for her, and how much he regrets the past few months he has spent sowing his wild oats. I liked him to, man-whoredom aside. He is a really great guy. I loved the relationship between Kendall and Cruise. The chemistry between them is through the roof, and there are tons of steamy sexy scenes that will leave you fanning you face and dropping your jaw. The story was romantic, sexy, and well paced, and definitely kept my attention, leaving me turning the pages wanting more. If you love contemporary romance, especially the new adult steamy kind, then Someone To Love is one book you will definitely want to add to your TBR list.
