Shark Bait by Jenn Cooksey: Review, Giveaway, Exclusive Excerpt from The Other Fish in the Sea

Shark Bait (Grab Your Pole #1)
by Jenn Cooksey
Published:  June 15th 2012

Previously homeschooled Camie Ramsey is being shoved into the shark-infested waters of public high school, where even helium filled, penguin bespeckled arm floaties likely won’t help keep her inexperienced, fifteen-year old head above water in that rip current of hormones and emotions.

Camie’s worldly wisdom might be severely lacking (i.e., the closest she’s come to being kissed was sitting too close to the TV whilst Jake Ryan leaned in to give Samantha that fateful 16th birthday kiss), but she does understand her only hope for survival is if she’s thrown some kind of “social” life preserver before she sinks like a freaking rock. However, what will her fate be when she endeavors to flag down the only lifeguard on duty, the enormously popular and ridiculously beautiful Tristan Daniels? The most sought after and virtually most unattainable guy in school who not only makes Camie’s heart flatline on a recurring basis, he’s also the one guy who seemingly doesn’t know she exists.

Feeling like an inept piece of chum that could ultimately be swallowed by Jaws, can Camie get Tristan to rescue her from floundering in the treacherous deep, or is she destined to be Shark Bait?

Author's Note:
While the tales themselves are fictional, some of the events and characters are very loosely based in reality and on my experiences—but don’t worry, the names of the characters, most of their unfortunate fashion sense and/or questionable taste in music has been changed to protect the not-so innocent.

Due to language and some adult content, this book may not be suitable for readers under the age of 16.

My Thoughts:  I can't begin to tell you all how much I enjoyed book.  I absolutely loved Shark Bait and it ranks up there in my list of all times favorites.  Seriously, I was completed sucked in and captivated from beginning to end.  You know those kinds of books that keep you smiling like an idiot the whole time your reading it, along with having fits of laughing out loud (the kind where people look at you like your "not quite right," especially when it is just you and book, and your acting like that), well Shark Bait is that kind of book.  The story line itself was captivating and so much fun, and the characters themselves were even more fun.  I loved, loved, loved Camie.  Her inner dialogues were funnier many times than the things she actually said, and her personality just grabs you.  Tristan, the surfer god who all the girls worshiped, and many guys for that matter, was a total hottie, all alpha male and all that, who was much deeper than people give him credit for, and who didn't quite know what to do with his feelings for Camie.  The chemistry between these two is off the charts hot and there are some really steamy scenes that get your heart pounding.  Another one of my favorite characters was Camie's little sister Jillian and I cannot wait to see more of her in the next book.  Jilllian is a total badass in every sense of the word.  Seriously guys, all the secondary characters were great and I really loved them, and even loved to hate a few.

I can't encourage you guys enough to get this book.  If you are a fan of Jillian Dodd and love her Keatyn Chronicles, then you are going to absolutely love Shark Bait.  It truly is one of my favorite books EVER.  I would really love to see this as a movie or a television series, I think it would be that big of a hit.  If you haven't read or heard of Jenn Cooksey, she is an author you definitely want to get to know, and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.  Again, if you haven't read it, what are you waiting for, hurry and get it.

I loved this book so much that I am giving away three e-copies, which you can enter to win below.  In addition, Jenn Cooksey has provided an exclusive excerpt from the next book in her Grab Your Pole series, The Other Fish in the Sea.....enjoy!

"The Other Fish in the Sea."
“Romeo and Juliet killing themselves was ultimately an accident due to a miscommunication but this f**kin’ guy…guy, vampire...whatever, actually has a contingency plan! He’s gonna outlive her anyway, so why bother? I mean if living without her is such a big deal, then he should just change her and be done with it. No offense, Baby, but if I were a vampire and didn’t wanna un-live without you, you’d be f**kin’ dead, end of story...
