Make it Last:
In a small town, it's hard to recover from being dumped by your high school sweetheart. That's just what Briana has to do after Colin leaves her to follow his dreams. She focuses her energy into her friendships and the pursuit of her own goal of becoming a chef. Just when she finally feels like she's on the right path, he comes back to town.

Colin knew breaking up with Briana before leaving for college was the right thing to do. He was determined to leave small-town life behind forever, and that included his high school girlfriend. But when a sports injury puts him on the sidelines, he's forced to return home. Seeing Briana again brings back a lot of memories, and Colin wonders if he made the right decision. It doesn't take long for him to realize he wants her back, and this time, he wants to make it last.

My Thoughts:  Make it Last is Briana and Colin's story.  They were completely and totally in love until Colin broke it off with Briana when he went away to college.  Briana was devastated, yet she recovers and goes on.  After spending a year in college, she returns home and is working as cook at the local bar and grill, saving her money up to attend culinary school in Austin Texas, which is her dream.  It's been 4 years since Colin broke her heart.  There have been other guys, and she is currently in a friends with benefits relationship with Kent.  What she doesn't expect is for Colin to move back into town.  What bothers her even more is the way she feels when she sees him.  Colin regrets what he did to Briana and would love to be a part of her life again, especially now that an injury has crushed his dreams of playing pro ball.  When he sees Briana with Kent, he is very jealous, and when his best friend Rich pops into the picture, it makes things even worse.  Cole manages to get Briana to forgive him and things start looking up, but when an old love shows up on the scene with some shocking news, any hope he has with Briana may be ruined.

I really enjoyed Briana and Cole's story.  I liked Briana from the get go.  She was fun, hardworking, feisty, and a great friend.  Cole had to grow on me, though I did wind up liking him.  We are also introduced to a group of secondary characters in this book that were fun to get to know, and whose stories are told in future installments.  Kara, Pete, Kent, Roni, Nicole, and Rich.  They all play a big part in the story and it was really great seeing how this group of friends got along.  Make it Last is a wonderful contemporary romance that was entertaining and heartwarming.  The romance was great, the chemistry between Bree and Cole was really hot, and the story itself was very entertaining.

I Choose You:
Up until now, Nicole's life has been mapped out for her. She'd go to college, marry Jake and become the upstanding minister's wife. When she leaves that life to begin again in a small town in Texas, she finally has the freedom to live as she chooses. There, she meets Kent, a guy whose charm and passion make it hard to stick to her morals.

Dodging his father’s fists and protecting his twin sister made Kent into the man he is today. He learned by watching his mother stay by his father’s side that it’s better to keep relationships simple. Then he meets Nicole. Her sweet smile and genuine response to him land like punches to his resolve. After a lifetime of learning to protect his heart, can he finally let down his guard?

My Thoughts:  Nicole is an only child, her family is very wealthy, her mom is very controlling, snobbish, and set in her ways.  Jake fit into her mom's plan for her life perfectly.  He was on his way to becoming a minister and in her parent's eyes, Jake was the perfect guy for her.  While away in college, Nicole came to realize that her parents dreams were no longer her own, and that she didn't want to marry Jake.  She didn't love him in that way, and that wasn't the life she wanted for herself.  When she finally was able to tell Jake and her family this, it didn't go over well  at all.  That was two years ago, and she hasn't seen them since.  Nicole now lives in a small town, is an English major, and is working as waitress in a local restaurant/bar, and loves it.  She is getting a new roommate, Roni, who is working with her now and just happens to be the twin sister of, Kent, one of the hottest guys Nicole has ever seen.  Kent also happens to be someone Nicole has been crushing on for quite sometime. Kent is a really great guy, but because of his past and where he came from, he feels like he is out of his league with Roni.  He doesn't fit in with her family and just doesn't see how things can work, but Nicole sees things differently.  She just has to convince Kent of it.

I Choose You is a sweet romance and a great second installment in the Friends and Lovers Trilogy.  This is Nicole and Kent's story, and I really enjoyed it.  It was nice to see what was going on with all the characters we came to know and love in Make it Last.  I also loved getting to know Nicole and Kent better, and really liked them both.  I enjoyed watching their relationship develop and seeing how they dealt with the obstacles they were faced with.  I also really liked Rich and Roni, and I'm looking forward to seeing where Bethany Lopez takes their relationship in the next book in the series, Trust in Me.  If you are fan of contemporary romance, then you will enjoy the Friends and Lover series by Bethany Lopez.  I Choose You is not that long and can be read in a couple of hours, it is heartwarming, and has just the right about of romantic sizzle.  .  Overall I really enjoyed I Choose You and would definitely recommend it.

Trust in Me:
Roni’s dreams of becoming a contemporary dancer were smashed under the brutal rage of her ex-husband's fists. Getting divorced and starting over at the age of twenty-two was never her plan, but maybe in Texas, she'll find her path. When the town's local player, Rich, opens a Rec Center, she sees a way to rekindle her dancing dreams...and maybe have a little fun with her sexy new boss.

Rich never expected to fulfill his dreams in the town he planned to leave behind, but that's just what he's doing. His reputation as a noncommittal ladies' man might make it challenging to earn respect in the business world, but he's willing to prove that he's serious. In fact, when it comes to pursuing Roni, he's more than willing. But she's taking a page out of his book, not wanting to risk another relationship. Can he convince her that his playboy days are over and that she can trust him with her heart?

My Thoughts:   Trust in Me is the third book in the Friends and Lovers trilogy and I think it is my most favorite of them all.  Why, because it's Rich and Roni's story.  I just fell in love with Rich in the beginning of the series and have grown to love him more as it progressed.  He is a total hottie and he knows it, he has a killer smile, a killer body, and is a total man-whore.  I don't know what that says about me, but I seem to always fall for the man-whores and bad boys.  Rich isn't your typical man-whore who loves and leaves them feeling angry.  He just loves women and has a way of making each one feel special and loved.....swoon......sigh.  When Rich meets Roni he knows almost immediately that there is something different about her and he wants nothing more than to know her better.  Roni is Kent's sister and has had a really rough life, is recently divorced, and has been left physically and emotionally scarred as a result of her experiences.  Roni also won't give into Rich's charms, and the man is pretty irresistible.  She denies her feelings as long as she can, but eventually has to test the waters and see if Rich tastes as good as he looks.  Rich is crazy about Roni, but when Roni's past comes crashing in around her any hopes of a relationship with Rich seems to dissolve around her.

I loved the romance between Rich and Roni.  It is the steamiest of all the books so far, and rightly so, especially when Rich is involved.  We also get to see all the gang in this book and they all play a big part in the story.  It was really great to see how this group has remained friends, and despite their histories together, all manage to love each other and get along really well.   I enjoyed where Bethany took this series, and I especially enjoyed the bonus endings which seemed to wrap things up for each couple and bring closure that gave them all their HEA.  Overall, The Friends and Lover's series is a great contemporary romance series and if this is a genre you enjoy, then I would certainly check this series out.

  5. It's okay Ellen, I too always seem to fall for the manwhores and the bad boys. It just can't be helped! I love when I fall for a character in the first book of a series, get to spend just little snippets of time with him through other books, and then FINALLY get his book in full. Can't wait to meet Rich for myself!
