No Attachments
by Tiffany King
Publication Date:  04/28/12
Synopsis:  Ashton Garrison walked away from a privileged life in order to hide from the one thing she's not willing to face. She knows she left behind a trail of pain, but in the long run, her betrayal will hurt less than the truth. She now has one goal: Live life to the fullest with no regrets and no attachments. She has high hopes that a move to new surroundings will provide the escape she desires, but what Ashton doesn't count on is how fate always seems to find a way to screw up any good plan. Sometimes, when love comes knocking, the pull is too strong not to answer. Suddenly, what she thought she wanted to escape from is what Ashton now wants more than anything.

Nathan Lockton has one mission: find his target and complete the task he was hired to do—no attachments and no emotion necessary. He's done it over and over again. What he thought was a typical lost-and-found job has turned into a life examining moment as Nathan is forced to deal with something he has always ignored--his feelings. Now faced with a decision, Nathan must choose to either follow his heart or complete the job.

Love can come when you least expect it. The question is: If the odds are stacked against you, how far are you willing to go for the one you love?
My Thoughts:  Ashton Garrison has left everything she knows behind in Florida as she runs away from the thing she fears the most.  She finds herself in the small town of Woodfalls, working in the general store, in what she refers to as her version of the small town found in The Gilmore Girls.  She has met some wonderful people that really love her and she has made some great new friends.  The story begins as Ashton and her two friends, Tressa and Brittni are in the local bar.  Ashton has made a list of things she wants to do before she comes out of hiding, and one of these things is a toe curling one-night stand.  When the hottie Nathan Lockton shows up on the scene, her friends decide that he is the perfect person for her to accomplish this with.  Ashton makes her move with the help of a little liquid courage, and moseys on over to the bar.  Thanks to many more shots of liquid courage, she not only puts her foot in her mouth more than once, which Nathan finds absolutely charming, she also manages to pass out.  Nathan, being the gentleman his body really does not want to be, gets her home and puts her to bed, denying what he really would like to be doing with her.  He can't understand what it is about this girl that had him so perplexed.  He has one rule, "Find my target, evaluate the situation, contact the parties concerned"......no attachments.  He soon finds that "no attachments" is also Ashton Garrison's goal.  After a mutual agreement to spend a little "no attachment" time together, these two soon have to face the reality that what they have crosses that line big time.  Both have secrets, big secrets, secrets that can ruin everything.  The question is how will they deal with them when everything comes to light?

I enjoyed No Attachments.  I liked Ashton's character.  She was very funny, but some of the things she has been through and has to go through are really heartbreaking.  Nathan is totally hot and I fell for him immediately.  He is completely swoon-worthy, and as the story progressed I grew to like him even more.  I also enjoyed Ashton's friend Tressa, she was a hoot.  The relationship between Nathan and Ashton was very steamy and you could see from the get go that this was going be anything but casual, despite how they tried to convince themselves otherwise.  There are some really hot and steamy moments, some really funny ones, and there are also some very heart wrenching moments that will bring you to tears, but the story ended well, and I felt very satisfied with the ending.  Overall, this was an interesting and enjoyable story that will make you both laugh and cry.  If you are a contemporary romance fan, then No Attachments is a book you should check out.
Teaser:
"Hey Joe, can I get a shot?  I asked, sliding onto the bar-stool next to the tall-dark-panty-dropping-worthy hunk.  "Sure thing Ashton.  How'd you like your beer?"  Joe asked, drying a small shot glass with a cotton towel he had tucked into his apron.  "It tasted like pee,"  I confessed.  Joe threw his head back as a loud roar of laughter erupted out of him.  "Drink a lot of pee do you?"  He asked.  I opened my mouth to answer him sarcastically when the object of my fascination let out a low rumble of laughter.  Seizing my opportunity, I gulped down the bourbon Joe had placed in front of me and swiveled around to face the stranger........
"Can I get you another?"........"Sure."  I eyed my empty glass as my body responded to his sexier-than-sin voice.

  7. OMG, this guy reminds me of Shane from Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie and he is one of my favorite book crushes EVER! I’m on the tour for next book and I have this book coming up very very soon! Sounds like my kind of book :)

Oh and can I just saw I applaud the author for changing this cover. The old cover was gorgeous too but I love that she didn’t want to have the same book cover as another book. The new cover is so pretty!

  9. Number one reason would be discovering what sent Ashton on the run and second who sent Nathan to find her. Third, Tiffany King is a new to me author and I am always on the look out for me next auto-buy author. And fourth, Nathan sounds irresistible! Okay, not necessarily in that order...
