Animate Me is a fun and sexy contemporary romance.

Love struck animator, Nathan, has set his sights on Brooke, the Director of Development at their animation studio.

He has worshipped her from afar for years and even created a comic book heroine named B-Girl in her likeness. When their paths cross he seizes the opportunity to make a good impression. As they grow closer a serious hindrance looms…her dwindling romance with Arnauld, head of the animation studio.

When Arnauld realizes that Nathan is threatening his relationship with Brooke, he goes after him and it sparks an outrageous uprising at the studio. Havoc ensues from antics only a building full of creative cartoon people can create. In the midst of the drama Brooke has to decide whether to follow her heart or risk her impressive career, while Nathan pulls out all the stops to “woo” his girl.

The conclusion has you cheering for our unlikely hero to capture his B-Girl’s heart…while he wins our hearts as well.

My Writing Cave
By Ruth Clampett

Although we have several desks at home, my writing space is on the couch in our family room at the very center of our house. There are high ceilings in that room, and space around me, which seems to give freedom for the characters in my head to wander until they find their way. I also enjoy writing outside. My imagination feels wild and unhindered out in the open.
'
One distinct clue in my cave picture is the dip in the sofa cushions where my butt is firmly planted every night from about ten p.m. until midnight-my writing time after a long day of work. I’ve sat there writing many nights where I’ve fallen asleep with my laptop precariously perched on my knees. After those writing sessions it’s interesting to wake up the next morning and see what did or didn’t happen in my story.

My dog Jace is often curled up at my side while I write. I also keep written notes at my fingertips and my iPod on with the playlist I create for each story I’m writing. Nothing can get me more inspired than the perfect song for a particular character or scene. There’s a glass within reach and whether it is full of water or wine will often steer the direction things take with the story. Everything contributes to my writing mood: the fireplace across from me lit, the twinkly lights hung in the corner, my Wonder Woman figurine cheering me on.

To me, once I’m comfortable and the stage is set, anything can happen. I love the unpredictability and mental adventure of writing. I love it when my characters surprise me and keep me up late, even though it makes the mornings rough. It’s my magic hour, the high point of my day when I finally settle onto my couch, and feel that excitement as I pull my laptop open and call out to my characters, “Hey guys, I’m back…what shall we do tonight?”

About the Author

Ruth Clampett, daughter of legendary animation director, Bob Clampett, has spent a lifetime surrounded by art and animation. Graduating from Art Center College of Design  with a BFA in photography, Ruth opened her own Design/Photography studio and also taught photography at UCLA.
