Book Description: Determined to overcome a dark and tragic past, college student Everly Wallace is only months away from earning her degree in physical therapy. She’s consumed with school, caring for her ailing grandfather, and figuring out how to pay the next bill. The last thing she wants is a relationship, but it just might be the one thing she needs.
Major League pitcher Cole Parker hasn’t fought for anything in his life. He went from a privileged upbringing to a multimillion dollar All-Star career. But when his pitching shoulder starts to give him trouble at only twenty-four years old, he faces the possibility of his injury becoming public knowledge and costing him everything.

In a desperate bid to save his career, Cole decides to hire someone to treat his injury, someone who will keep things off the record and out of the media. He finds the perfect solution in Everly. As mysterious as she is beautiful, she provides an enticing distraction from his pain. Soon, physical therapy is the last thing on his mind.

When an act of betrayal brings the truths they both fear to light, Cole will have to fight for the first time in his life…not just for his career, but for Everly’s love.
My Thoughts: Raine Thomas is well known for her fantasy novels, which I have thoroughly enjoyed, so when I found out she had written a contemporary romance, I was excited to see what she had in store for her readers in this genre. For Everly is an endearing romance that will capture your heart a little more with each page. Cole Parker is the number one pitcher for a major league baseball team (which just happens to be Atlanta, which is my favorite). He comes from a loving and supportive family and has a good relationship with them. He grew up not lacking for anything and at 24 years old, finds himself a multimillionaire. It's contract renewal time, so when Cole's shoulder begins giving him trouble, he finds himself self-medicating with alcohol and behind the wheel of his Maserati. Not a good combination. After confessing to his brother Wyatt, who is a cardiologist, what is going on, he convinces Wyatt to get him some help. There is one catch, however, this help needs to be under the radar and away from the yes of the press.

Everly Thomas' life has been anything but normal. In fact, some of the the things she has endured and the responsibility she now shoulders, would be more than most people could ever endure. At 23 years old, she is the sole caretaker and provider for her grandfather, whose health is ailing. Everly has worked very hard, is very smart, and now only lacks a year until she has her doctorate in physical therapy, and is one of the best in her class. She lives a very modest life, works as a waitress, goes to school, volunteers, and takes care of her grandfather. That is what her life has consisted of for years. Despite her lack of a social life, she is anything but resentful. In fact, she is sincere, compassionate, and has a heart of gold. Her mentor also happens to be Cole's brother Wyatt, and that is how she ends up helping Cole Parker. What starts out as a working relationship ends up developing into much more, something that not everyone is happy about, and something some people would like to destroy, exploit, and manipulate. Cole's fame and Everly's dark past prove to be some really big obstacles, and they must decide if they are willing to try to get past them and take a chance on love.

I loved sports themed stories, especially romantic ones, so needless to say, I was excited to dive into this novel. Cole Parker is a hottie. He is also sexy and very sweet, though he does have a tendency to put his foot in his mouth at times. As his relationship with Everly starts progressing past professional, he finds himself having to think about things he never has before, like money and how hard some people have things, and how much he desperately wants to protect this beautiful girl. Everly Wallace is such a sweetheart. She is tough, because she has had to be, yet completely innocent, especially when it comes to guys. She works hard and is grateful for everything she has, despite the hard blows that life's circumstances have dealt her. I found that I really liked her from the beginning, but as the story progressed, she is one of those characters that just capture your heart. Their relationship is one that grows over time, and is not without its challenges, some of which prove to be very dangerous, especially where Everly is concerned. The secondary characters in this story were awesome to, and I found myself enjoying and connecting with them also. For me, this story was.... let me see how I can put this....it was sort of like a fine wine. You appreciate the first taste, but the more you drink the better it gets, and by the end, you savor the last drop, truly appreciating it. The romance is sweet, the story itself was really good, and the twist at the end that I was trying to figure out, ended up surprising me. I found For Everly to be a really good, sweet, and enjoyable New Adult Contemporary Romance, one definitely worth checking out.
