Title: Fixed on You
Author: Laurelin Paige
Release date: June 2013
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Book Description: Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Wither’s past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out – move up at the nightclub she works at and marry the manager, David. He’s perfect for her because, although he’s attractive, he doesn’t get her all turned inside out and upside down like some other men have. It’s a safe plan, one that assures she’ll remain in control of her obsessive love disorder.
But what Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s smart, rich, and gorgeous – the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of his plans to seduce her. Avoiding him becomes impossible after he offers a business proposition Alayna can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull.
Soon Alayna’s charmed by Hudson in every way possible and the control over her old behaviors slip. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.
My Thoughts: Alyayna Wither loves the nightclub scene where she has worked as a bartender for the past few years while she got her MBA, and rather than go to some stuffy office job, she would much rather move up into a managerial position at the club she is at, with her current boyfriend David. Alyana Wither also has a dark past, a past that involves certain types of men she has "fixated" on, something that has gotten her into quite a bit of trouble, emotionally, mentally, and legally. She now knows the type of men who feed her addiction, the type that she needs to stay away from, and the type that are safe. David is safe, and Laynie thinks she has things under control, that is until the night Hudson Pierce come into the bar. When she locks eyes with him she immediately knows that she should stay away from at any cost, but she can't stop thinking about him. Hudson Pierce is drop dead gorgeous, sexy, mysterious and has a very commanding presence. He knows what he wants and he used to getting it, and he wants Alayna. What she doesn't realize is the lengths he will go to in order to have her. Hudson Pierce also has dark secrets in his past, secrets that could make him the worse possible choice for Alayna. Nevertheless, when he makes her a proposition she can't refuse, she finds herself falling, and falling hard for this gorgeous man, and there is no turning back.
Fixed On You is hot, steamy, very sexy, and a very adult romance. The main characters' histories are quite interesting and different, which proves to add angst to the story, making them and their relationship both in and out of the bedroom very intense. Hudson Pierce is a strong, rich, alpha male who does not share, but also makes it clear that he isn't looking for or wanting love. Laynie on the other hand, even though she knows this, always, always gets overly attached. Hudson treats her so well, which makes things more difficult for her. She knows she is playing a role in his life, but when the lines begin to get blurred, will she be able to continue or will she lose him forever? I enjoyed getting to know Alayna and I admired the way she handled her situation, her brother, Hudson's family and past, and the way she handles things with Hudson himself. Hudson's character was charming, dangerous, and sexy, but Alayna is able to see into him on a level that no other woman ever has, which is something he has never experienced before and isn't quite sure how to deal with. The book contains some very graphic and explicit sexual scenes and is a very adult read. Overall, I enjoyed Fixed out you and found it to be entertaining. It doesn't end in a cliffhanger, which is a big plus, but still leaves you looking forward to the sequel.
“I will continue to seduce you. I’m a man who gets what he wants. And I want you.”
“I’m drawn to you, Alayna. Not because I want to hurt you or make you feel a certain way, but because you’re beautiful and sexy and smart and, yes, a little crazy, maybe, but you’re not broken. And that makes me hopeful. For me.”
“I apologize for overwhelming you. That wasn’t my intent. But I want you to know that whether or not you decide to help with my situation, I will continue to seduce you. I’m a man who gets what he wants. And I want you.”
Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She is represented by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.
