Shudder Synopsis
It’s only been three days, and already everything is different.
Paragon is behind her, but somehow Alessa’s life may actually have gotten worse. In a wrenching twist of fate, she traded the safety and companionship of her sister for that of her true love, losing a vital partner she’d counted on for the ordeal ahead. Her comfortable university life is but a distant memory, as she faces the prospect of surviving a bleak winter on the meager remains of a ravaged world. And if she’d thought she’d tasted fear upon seeing a ghost, she was wrong; now she’s discovering new depths of terror while being hunted by a deadly virus and a terrifying pack of superhuman creatures thirsting for blood.
And then there are the visions.
The memory-altering “stitch” unlocked something in Alessa’s mind, and now she can’t shake the constant flood of alien feelings ransacking her emotions. Haunting memories of an old flame are driving a deep and painful rift into her once-secure relationship. And a series of staggering revelations about the treacherous Engineers – and the bone-chilling deceit shrouding her world’s sorry history – will soon leave Alessa reeling…
The second installment in the electrifying Stitch Trilogy, Shudder follows Samantha Durante’s shocking and innovative debut with a heart-pounding, paranormal-dusted dystopian adventure sure to keep the pages turning.

Character Interview with Isaac from Shudder (Stitch Trilogy, Book 2)
Hi Isaac, thank you so much for stopping by to talk to us today (Sigh - he is definitely a hottie).  (blushing)  Thanks a lot for inviting me, Ellen, I’m happy to be here.
Can you tell us something about yourself that we don't learn from the book?
I harbor secret fantasies of overthrowing Paragon’s government… and keeping the entire city for myself, muahahahaha!  JUST KIDDING!  Seriously though, I’m a pretty straightforward guy – what you see is what you get, and I pretty much wear my heart on my sleeve whether I want to or not, so if you’ve been reading the books, you know me pretty well.

What is your author like?
She’s a sadist!  God forbid she could have sent, I dunno, fluffy bunnies or something chasing after us in the woods…  Haha.  But no, she’s cool.  She just has a very overactive imagination.  At least she gave me Alessa for a partner – I can’t really complain about that at least.

How would you describe yourself?
Tall, brooding, handsome… I love long walks on the beach, and getting caught in the rain.  (winking, laughs)  Well, okay, I’m not exactly *brooding* per say (who likes brooding men anyway?  shut up, all you ladies and your vampires…), but I *am* tall.  I have light brown hair and dark blue eyes and I guess I’m an “athletic” build?  I don’t know, what else do you want to know?  I like to think I have a good sense of humor, and I’m protective of the people I love, and I’m dedicated to the things I do, like fighting in the resistance.  I’m pretty logical-minded – I like to make rational decisions and figure problems out.  That’s about it.  I’m pretty normal, I’d say. (shrugs)

How do you think Alessa would describe you?
She’d probably say I’m too stubborn for my own good, but she keeps me around because she knows I love her unconditionally (even when SHE’S brooding) and I’m pretty handy with a knife.  Also, that I make up for any of my other shortcomings in bed. (grinning)

What is your most prized possession?
We don’t have much in terms of physical *possessions* in Paragon, so I’d have to go with my memories of my family, before the war and everything.  Particularly my brother, Joe.

What are your 3 greatest strengths?
Persistence, loyalty, and general easygoingness (is that a word?).

What are your 3 greatest weaknesses?
Is this a job interview or something?  (laughs)  I guess maybe I can be a little *too* determined sometimes, I’m not always as empathetic as I wish I was, especially when it comes to Less, and… just general insecurity about what other people think of me.

If you had to describe Alessa in a sentence, what would you say?
She’s the strongest, smartest, most reliable person I’ve ever known, and I trust her with every ounce of my being – I never would have made it this far without her.

If you had a day where you could do anything you wanted, what would you do?
Just RELAX.  We’re just constantly on the go with this rebellion, whether we’re running from something, or on a mission of some sort, or plotting our next strike… it never ends.  I’d love a day to just sit back and chill with Alessa, someplace warm with a lot of food.  That would be really nice.

Can you share anything about what's in store for you and Alessa in the next book in the series?
I can’t share *too* much (Sam would kill me), but let’s just say that things are not going to be exactly… simple… in our fight against Paragon and the Engineers.  There are a few surprises in store that are going to require us to think pretty creatively about how to take them down.  I think readers will enjoy it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today Isaac.  It was great talking to you
Thanks again for having me, Ellen!  It was a pleasure.
(sigh again - the view of him walking out the door is just as hot as the view of him walking in).

My Review of Shudder:  After reading and enjoying Stitch, I have been really looking forward to seeing where Samantha Durante and her creative imagination would take the characters and their story in the second installment of the trilogy, Shudder.  Shudder picks up shortly after Stitch leaves off.  Whereas Stitch started off in what seemed to be more of a contemporary setting with a paranormal element, then took me by surprise with the dystopian aspect and conspiracy behind everything that was going on, Shudder starts out in the dystopian setting.  Alessa and Isaac have escaped Paragon, and things didn't quite go as planned, but nonetheless they are determined to do what they set out to do.  They thought their main threat on the outside would be the harsh winter weather and the possibility of the virus still being active, but what they didn't expect was to be hunted by some strange, deadly, and blood thirsty creatures, nothing like they have ever seen or heard of before.  Unsure if it is a mutation of the virus or something even more frightening, their very lives hang in the balance as they push forward to find suitable shelter, regroup, and plan how to save their loved ones left behind.  When Alessa starts having strange visions and feelings that don't belong to her, and memories keep resurfacing of someone from her past that are confusing and frightening, she doesn't know what to make of it, and Isaac isn't sure how to help her.

Needless to say, these two never have a dull moment, that's for sure.  In spite of all the intense and frightening drama going on around them, Isaac and Alessa do have their romantic moments, which are pretty hot, and I loved seeing how much these two really did love and care for each other.  Samantha Durante has written those moments into the story at just the right times, adding that romantic element that is the icing on the cake, in my opinion, to a great story.  Durante has also cleverly incorporated the paranormal/psychic aspect in heavily, blending it into this post apocalyptic setting, even including a few surprises that have sort of a science fiction feel to it.  This may sound like a lot, but the author has woven it all together beautifully and written an action-packed, intense, and exiting story, with the romance that so many of us crave, and a plot with twists and turns that keeps you guessing and flipping the pages to see what happens next.  I really enjoyed Shudder, and the Stitch Trilogy is a great series that I definitely recommend.  I can't wait for the final installment, Stuck, to come out because I am so ready to read it now and see how the series concludes.  Check it out.

Stitch Synopsis
Her heart races, her muscles coil, and every impulse in Alessa’s body screams at her to run… but yet she’s powerless to move.
Still struggling to find her footing after the sudden death of her parents, the last thing college freshman Alessa has the strength to deal with is the inexplicable visceral pull drawing her to a handsome ghostly presence. In between grappling with exams and sorority soirees – and disturbing recurring dreams of being captive in a futuristic prison hell – Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless. But the terrifying secret she uncovers will find her groping desperately through her nightmares for answers.
Because what Alessa hasn’t figured out yet is that she’s not really a student, the object of her obsession is no ghost, and her sneaking suspicions that something sinister is lurking behind the walls of her university’s idyllic campus are only just scratching the surface…
The opening installment in a twist-laden trilogy, Stitch spans the genres of paranormal romance and dystopian sci-fi to explore the challenges of a society in transition, where morality, vision, and pragmatism collide leaving the average citizen to suffer the results.
