Here we go again …

Just when it seems life at Mythos Academy can’t get any more dangerous, the Reapers of Chaos manage to prove me wrong. It was just a typical night at the Library of Antiquities — until a Reaper tried to poison me. The good news is I’m still alive and kicking. The bad news is the Reaper poisoned someone else instead.

As Nike’s Champion, everyone expects me to lead the charge against the Reapers, even though I’m still hurting over what happened with Spartan warrior Logan Quinn. I’ve got to get my hands on the antidote fast — otherwise, an innocent person will die. But the only known cure is hidden in some creepy ruins — and the Reapers are sure to be waiting for me there …

My Thoughts:  Gwen Frost's story continues full force in the latest installment of the Mythos Academy Series, Midnight Frost, and Jennifer Estep delivers another action-packed story for fans of the series.  Midnight Frost picks up shortly after Crimson Frost leaves off.  If you read Crimson Frost, you know that there was a major, life-threatening thing that happened between Gwen Frost and the Spartan hottie Logan Quinn.  Just when it seemed like things were coming together for them, the evil Loki and his Reapers have to go and mess things up.  Logan has had to take some time away to deal with things, and if you read the novella Spartan Frost, you get to see what is going on with Logan and the things he is dealing with after the events that occurred in Crimson Frost.  Poor Gwen just can't catch a break with those Reapers.  They seem to be everywhere.  Gwen and the Mythos Academy Crew, and how I love them, have been tracking down artifacts, some of which Gwen still isn't sure the significance of, but never fear, she soon finds out their importance.   I think this group of friends becomes even more tight-knit in this installment as they work and spend more time together, and they are all badass warriors to.  When tragedy strikes home threatening the life of someone Gwen holds dear, she and the gang are forced to visit the Denver Colorado branch of the academy in order to find a rare flower that holds the key to her loved one's survival, even though they know that the Reapers are setting them up.

Unfortunately, it would seem that Logan is still MIA, unable to face Gwen and his friends just yet, still feeling terribly guilty for what happened between them.  The plot thickens when the gang reaches Denver and we are introduced to a couple of new characters, one of which Gwen finds out she is very connected to.  One cool thing in this novel is that there are a lot of Gryphons, and they have a big role in the story.  Those old heifers Argona Quinn and Vivian Holler of course have to rare up their ugly heads, which I would love to pinch off, and cause trouble.  Nike also makes an appearance, revealing some things to Gwen, and leaving even more unanswered.  Even though they are not physically together for the majority of the book, the love is still there between Gwen and Logan, provided the necessary amount of romance that keeps you rooting and hoping that these two will finally be able to get together, and we do get to see Logan before the book ends...swoon.  I think Gwen's character did a lot of maturing in this segment, and she also found out a lot of things about her family and her history that she was unaware of.

Needless to say, as in all the installments, Jennifer Estep delivers another action-packed, suspenseful, and exciting story in Midnight Frost, which is true to form for her.  The mythological world she has created in the Mythos Academy Series is not only enchanting, it's also loads of fun.  The ending was really good.  I was very happy, and that is all I can say without spoiling it for you.  I look forward to seeing where Jennifer Estep takes these wonderful characters in the next installment.

  1. I just love this series!! Sad there wasn't more Logan time but it still really worked and I was happy to see how Gwen did without him not always being there. I have to say, she came through amazingly!!

    1. It was nice to see Gwen do so well on her own. I am ready for these two to get together and have a little HEA time though.

  2. Yay! Wasn't too invested in finishing this series, but your review made me change my mind. So excited that Logan will make an appearance before the end of the novel.

    1. I was really worried about that because I can't stand the thought of them never seeing each other. It was good though.

    1. I do to. You are right about Nike being vague. It kind of drives you nuts sometimes.
