“This is forbidden love and longing done absolutely right! Complicated and sexy doesn't even begin to cover Lexie's journey.”
--JAY CROWNOVER, New York Times bestselling author of RULE

Have you ever gone just a little too far?

Lexie Banks has.

Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it’s more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he’s been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years … and is so off limits. It’s a good thing she’s leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome.

But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can’t seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt … and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon … only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro’s signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn’t know what to think. She’s torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn’t want and the man she can’t have. And she isn’t sure how she can live with herself either way.

My Thoughts:  Lexie Banks is home for the summer from college.  She has been avoiding her ex-boyfriend of since they broke up after she found out he was cheating on her.   She thought she was past it all, that is until she sees him again, and now she has doubts. Her best friend and confidant is her stepbrother Trent.  Lexie's Dad married Trent's mom when they were younger, and Lexie and Trent just clicked and have gotten along ever since.  He has been there for her through ups and down, holds her when she cries, laughs with her, plays Warcraft with her, even sings to her.  This time, though, they went a little too far and wound up having the most amazing sex they ever imagined.  Confused, they don't know quite how to deal with what happened or their newly awakened feelings for each other.  Lexie leaves a couple of days later to spend the school semester in Rome Italy.  She can't get Trent out of her mind, and she has come to realize just how much she cares for him in a not so sisterly way at all.  Trent also has feelings for Lexie, but after a misunderstanding regarding some text messages and Lexies best friend Sam, they both decide they need to nip it in the blood - or as Lexie says, pray that she doesn't burn in hell.  Lexie winds up meeting the handsome young Alessandro Moretti, a deacon who is in the process of becoming a Catholic Priest.  She and Alessandro hit it off and end up working on a project together, spending a lot of time together, and well.....Alessandro begins to question his vow of celibacy.  One thing leads to another, and Lexie finds herself in the middle of a big mess.....again. Forced to come to terms with her feelings, Lexie must decide who she wants and what she is going to do about it.

A Little Too Far is a really fun story.  The stepbrother angle isn't awkward at all and is written really well.  I liked Lexie, though she could be a little immature at times, especially considering she is a junior in college.  I really liked both Trent and Alessandro, but I have to say she chooses the guy I was hoping she would.  The setting and the details about Rome and some of the art history there really added a lot to the book.  There were also several secondary characters that were interesting.  I especially liked Lexie's friend Abby.  The romance was hot, and there were some really steamy scenes.   The premise and the story line itself were both entertaining and fresh in my opinion, and I was really pleased with the way the story ended, but then again the guy I was rooting for won.  The series will continue with A Little Too Much, which is coming out in November.  I am looking forward to reading that, but I can't say too much about why, because it is a major spoiler for book one.  A Little Too Far is a fun new adult contemporary romance and if you enjoy that age group and genre, then this is a book you might want to check out.

A LITTLE TOO MUCH (A companion novel coming November 12, 2013) - on Goodreads

A LITTLE TOO HOT (coming January 21, 2014)

“I really miss us, Trent.” I swallow. “I miss how I could tell you everything and how I knew you’d never judge me. I miss how safe I used to feel when you held me. I miss that you knew me better than I knew myself. I miss my best friend so much,” I add, as a tear rolls over my lashes. “What we did stole him from me. I want him back.”

“I feel myself implode, and all I can think about is how much I miss him. I miss curling into his arms and telling him about my day. I miss knowing he’ll always be mine—that no one will ever know me like he does. I miss his lips and his hands. I miss his heart and his soul. I miss every part of him.
I feel so empty.
Can a person die of emptiness?”
