Book Boyfriend(s) of the Week: Jesse Walker and Garth Black from Nicole Williams Lost and Found Series

TITLE: "Book Boyfriend of the Week: What kind is yours?"

This is a meme created by Reading and Things for bloggers to talk about their boyfriends and teases their readers with things they've said.
Want to participate?

All you have to do is:
1) Pick a book boyfriend, it can be from the book your currently reading or from one you've already read.
2) Write what kind of boyfriend he is, and if you want, say why you think that.
3) Pick a quote from his book, it could be long or short, that proves he is the kind of boyfriend you said he is
4) Make sure the quote, and the explanation, DO NOT give away anything from the book (we want all of the twists and plot surprises to remain surprises)
5) Share it! And shout it out it using #Reading and Things.

Well girls, this week I am going to be a bit of a book ho-bag.  I have chosen to be the filling in a cowboy sandwich between Jesse Walker and Garth Black .....sigh....swoon.....melt.....That's right girls, who wouldn't want to find themselves in the middle of these two gorgeous cowboys.  Jesse is as good as they get, totally hot, has a panty dropping smile, he's romantic, sweet, and makes you fall in love with the good guys.  Garth is the bad boy every girl loves.  He can be a jerk, a  heartbreaker, he's hot and he knows it, and he has that confidant swagger going on that makes you just want to eat  him up, but once you get to know him, he really has a heart of gold - let's just say they are the best of both worlds.
Good Cowboy -  - Bad Cowboy

“Sometimes we just have to cut off the dead branches in our life. Sometimes that's the only way we can keep the tree alive. It's hard and it hurts, but it's what's best.”

“We all want to open up to someone, Rowen. The hard part is finding someone we trust enough to open up to. That person we're not afraid to let into the darkest parts of our world.”

“When you open yourself up to people, you let the bad in with the good. I can't promise I won't ever hurt you, Rowen. But it won't be on purpose. I will never hurt you intentionally. I can promise you that.”
“We all have secrets, Rowen. Every last person on the planet. And you know what else? We all experience the same kinds of things. We just go through them at different times and to different degrees.”

“He bent his face into the curve of my neck. “We don’t deserve anything Rowen. We don’t deserve punishment, we don’t deserve happiness, life owes us nothing. Realize that.” His voice wasn’t gentle anymore; it was as strong as I’d ever heard it. “So we have to take what we want because life sure as shit isn’t going to freely hand it over.” He kissed the skin just above my collar bone. “And I want you.”

“We will all, at some point in our lives, fall. Every single one of us. We shouldn't spend our time trying to avoid falling. We should spend it finding someone who will help us up!”

and in Near and Far
“I know we can make it through anything, Rowen. The past couple of months have proven that to me. I know we could make it if we were far away from each other, I trust that. I have faith in that. The thing is… I don’t want to do it. I want to be near you. Every day. Every night. Why should I settle for you from far away when I can have you near me every morning when I wake up?”

“Don’t let the things you think you need to do keep you from doing the things you actually need to.
Okay? Fight for the things that matter—don’t waste your energy on the rest.”

I ascribed few words to what we shared, but one word I could, one word I felt the moment his fingers laced through mine, and that was.......eternal.

Garth Black
in Finders Keepers
I'd had too many drinks, and she'd thrown too many glances my way, for me to stay quiet any longer.  "You might want to step it up a few hundred notches, Mason, because you're exciting Josie about as much as cow shit on the bottom of my boots."

The rule was simple:  Whatever normal, sane people did, I went with the opposite.

".....Around here, we shoot coyotes, wolves, and assholes, and it's been a while since I've got to shoot an asshole.  I'm going through withdrawals."

I tried pulling free of Will's hold, but the old timer was either hooked up to a steroid drip every night or was a decedent of Superman...

Unbelievable.  Will Jones wasn't only one badass cowboy; he pretty much could have been the love child of John Wayne and Yoda.
When we'd reached the middle of the floor, I drew her close and looked her in the eyes.  "Finders keepers."
.....That night, that dance, that girl.....had messed me up something fierce.  In good ways, but mostly in bad ways.

“My childhood friend, my adolescent secret obsession, my biggest mistake."

“I always knew you’d be one of those people who’d charge into a burning building to save a person. I always knew you were a superhero in hiding.”

“People like you and me, kids who grew up fighting for every single ounce of love that came our way…When we find that person we want to love, we give them a pure and boundless form of it because we know what it’s like to be denied it. We know the opposite of love so well, we go a full one-eighty when we find that special someone.”

"Excuse us, Black.  The real bull riders are going to get a few drinks before getting laid."
"Just so you know," I hollered after him while standing, "your hand and imaginations don't qualify as getting laid!"  I knew he heard me, but he didn't reply.  Probably because he was getting laid about as frequently as I was lately, which was a whole lotta nada.

When her eyes locked onto mine, she smiled, then whispered, "Finders keepers."  Whether it was her hips that took me in or my hips that took her, I knew one thing - things would never be the same.  They never had been.
"I wasn't the guy who fell in love with you this past winter." I shook my head. Pain flashed across her face. "I was the boy who fell in love with you that day on the school bus when we were five. And I'm the man that always will."
