From New York Times bestselling author Lauren Dane comes the latest release from Cosmo Red-Hot Reads from Harlequin.

She won’t be satisfied with just one bite...

Art student-slash-bike messenger Wren Davis pursues what she wants. And what she wants now is Gregori Ivanov, rock star of the Seattle art scene. With his tattoos, piercings and sensual sneer, Gregori is the ultimate bad boy. Wren’s gotten to know the man beneath the body art, too—and it only makes her crave him more.

But Gregori loves women like he loves cake and champagne—intensely, but only for the moment. And after Wren experiences just how scorching sex with Gregori is, she’s determined to show him that just one taste won’t be enough...

My Thoughts:  Cake is a steamy romance that is fun, hot, and doesn't take that long to read.  The main character is Wren Davis, and I just loved her.  She works as a messenger making deliveries on her bike to help support herself while she is in art school.  One of the people she delivers to is the eccentric Russian artist Gregori Ivanov, who is quite the character.  He looks like a rock star, tends to be moody, has the definite bad boy thing going on, and has a reputation as a player.  Over time, Wren and Gregori become really good friends, but the sexual undertones have always been there.  They are definitely attracted to one another and there is enough chemistry to light up a city going on, but they have been very cautious of crossing that line from friendship into something more. Circumstances are set in motion that take them over the edge and they find themselves in a hot, steamy, sexy, and intense relationship.  Whether it will destroy their friendship or cause them to draw closer remains to be seen.

I really loved Wren's character.  She is funny, snarky, and has a great personality.  She is very confident for the most part, though she isn't crazy about the partying scene, and most of all, she isn't afraid to stand up to Gregori.  Gregori is hot, kind of mysterious, moody, and very sexy.  He's been burned by love once, and doesn't do relationships, but Wren gets to him in a way that no one else ever has, which really frightens him.  Wren is different than most of the women Gregori has seen.  She isn't there to use him and doesn't want his money or connections, she likes him for him, and they really just click.  She understands him, yet isn't afraid to do what she needs to do to get her point across.  Cake is a light, fun, and extremely hot romance that is entertaining that will leaving you smiling and fanning your face at the same time.  This is an adult book with adult scenes and is not appropriate for readers under the age of 18.

About:
The story goes like this: While on pregnancy bed rest, Lauren Dane had plenty of down time so her husband took her comments about “giving that writing thing a serious go” to heart and brought home a secondhand laptop. She wrote her first book on it before it gave up the ghost. Even better, she sold that book and never looked back.
Today Lauren is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over forty novels and novellas across several genres. Though she no longer has to deal with Polly Pocket and getting those tiny outfits on and off, she still has trouble blocking out the sound of iCarly so she can write a love scene.

  5. I'm very curious about Gregori! I'm not so into the partying scene myself so I might connect with Wren on that thing. Especially since I'm guessing Gregori has to be into it, at least has to make some appearance.

    1. Gregori was a different kind of guy for sure. I don't know if you would like this, it gets pretty racy at some points.
