BOOK SUMMARY:
She’s his boss. He doesn’t care. This office isn’t big enough for the two of them…

When Rory Clarke ends up hiring the guy she spent one steamy night with to be her administrative assistant, she's determined to keep things professional.

Lucas Blaine has other plans for her. He wants Rory, and it’s hard to resist his stunning blue eyes, chin dimple and the way he fills out a suit. Everywhere she looks, there he is, giving her a panty-melting smile and pulling her away for the most amazing (and satisfying) sex she’s ever had in her life.

What starts off as one sexual encounter turns into multiple trysts in and out of the office and the lines she’d tried to draw so carefully are blurring. But the closer they get, the more Rory realizes that there are things about Lucas she doesn’t know, things he’s hiding from her. She’ll have to decide if she can surrender to her feelings or get out while she still can

Character profile:
"Lucas Blaine" (Let's just go with that)

Age: 25

Hair: Auburn

Eyes: Blue

Height: 6'1

Occupation: Administrative assistant to Miss Aurora Clarke, at Clarke Enterprises.

Goals: I should say something like being successful and so forth, but really, Miss Clarke is my only goal right now.

Likes: Red high heels, paper airplanes, loooonnnnnggggg meetings.

Dislikes: Locked doors, sleeping alone, people who ask too many questions (with one exception).

Night or day? I've recently become a huge fan of mornings. Especially sunrises.

Chocolate or vanilla? Depends on my mood and how adventurous I'm feeling.

Skirts or pants? Skirts. Hands down. Easy access.

Favorite place in Boston? Anywhere, as long as I'm with the right person.

Actor who most resembles you: There aren't a whole lot of actors who look like me, but sometimes people think I'm Damian Lewis, even though we don't look much alike. I think it's the hair. I think I look more like Henry Cavill. If he'd dye his hair and get some freckles.

My Review:  Rory Clarke has worked really hard to get to the position she is in, something she doesn't take lightly.  Despite the fact that her father is the president of the company, she has worked her way up the corporate ladder and gotten to the place she is at by her own merits, not because of who she happens to be.  When her administrative assistant retires and she is in the process of interviewing and hiring another, Mr. Lucas Blaine enters the picture, and does so quite unconventionally, just showing up at the office resume in hand.  Perturbed by this fact, Rory's intentions are to walk out there and just shoot him down.  Instead she finds herself back in her office conducting an unscheduled interview with one of the hottest guys she's ever met.  He's dressed to the hilt in a tailored suit, he's confidant, cocky, and sexy as all get out, which irks Rory to no end.  Determined to stand her ground, she says she will be in contact with him with all intentions of not hiring him.

Rory may be very professional and determined when it comes to business, but she is also a girl who loves to have fun and party with her friends.  She and her best friend and roommate Sloane, along with her two other best friends Chloe and Marisol head out to their usual "bar," for a night of fun.  What she doesn't expect is to run into none other than Mr. Arrogant Hottie at the club.  One thing leads to another and she winds up highly inebriated and having the best one-night stand of her life, fully intending never to see Mr. Sex on a Stick again.  Back at work, Rory finds herself going over Lucas Blaine's resume and sees just how qualified he is, and then receives pressure from the board of directors to hire Mr. Lucas Blaine, she winds up doing just that, telling herself it won't get complicated, especially since the company has a strict no-dating policy for coworkers.  Mr. Lucas Blaine has other plans, and those plans turn out to be a lot harder to resist than Rory ever imagined.  Doing and saying things she never thought she would, Rory juggles her job, her feelings, and her insatiable desire for this man she doesn't have any business messing around with.  When her feelings come into play, things get even harder, especially when it becomes clear that Mr. Lucas Blaine is keeping quite a few secrets about himself, secrets that could possibly destroy Rory.

Sweet Surrendering was a fun and hot contemporary romance.  The story line was a little different, and while I suspected certain things about Lucas Blaine and was kind of on the right track with my suspicions, I didn't really see exactly what that was until Chelsea Cameron revealed it in the story, something I found impressive and refreshing.  In the first part of the book, I really didn't like Rory's character that much, but I didn't dislike her either.  There was just something about her personality that I didn't care for.  I also wasn't crazy about Lucas Blaine.  Though I thought he was really sexy, he was also redheaded,  or "ginger" as he is referred to by Rory's best friend Sloane, and redheaded men just don't do it for me at all.  That said, over the course of the novel, I came to both love and thoroughly enjoy both of the characters, something I found very impressive and very refreshing yet again. I loved their relationship, their humor, the romance was hot, and their interactions and the banter between them was hilarious, yet intense, and very entertaining.  I also really loved Rory's best friend Sloane, and I am hoping she gets a book next.  The romance in and out of the office, coupled with the mystery behind who Lucas Blaine was and what he was doing there made for quite a captivating read, and the way Chelsea Cameron was able to sway my opinions and thoughts about the characters from one end of the scale to the other was something that I found quite remarkable.  If you are a contemporary romance fan and love a story that has a little mystery, hot romance, and plenty of humor in the mix, then Sweet Surrendering is something I would definitely recommend checking out.

Favorite Quotes:
I couldn't help it.  At the sound of my moan, he laughed a little and did it again. "I like that sound," he said, propping his chin between my breasts and smiling at me.  "I think I'd like to hear it all night long.  I think I'd like to save it and make it my ringtone."

"You look all hot and bothered," Sloane said as I sat down and she shoved a mimosa across the tablecloth at me.  "Do I?"  God, I hoped not.  I didn't want anyone at the office getting wind of my history with Mr. Blaine.  I pulled out my compact and checked my face for signs of hotness or botheredness.  My eyes were a little wide, but other than that I looked the same.

"So.  Here it is!"  She picks it up and I see that it's basically a bra with panties that are attached by crisscrossing red ribbons......"How the hell do I get into it?"  It looks impossible.  Like half the moves in the Kama Sutra, or going to Coach without buying something.

"You love him, Rory."  This was a statement, not a question.
"No.  Not yet.  But..."
"Yeah, you do.  Admit it.  You wanna marry him and make little ginger babies and continue the ginger species.  They're dying out you know, which means you're probably going to have to have at least ten.."

.....Lucah and I waved brooms in front of it to dissipate the smoke from the now-black cheesecake....."We could eat it," I suggested."  "I will if you will."  It wasn't a large thing, only about five inches circular, but it was pretty gross looking.  I got out two forks and handed him one.  "One, two three!"  We both grabbed a bite and shoved it into our mouths.  And proceeded to run for the sink and spit it out.  "Oh my God, it's like a zombie cheesecake," I said, rinsing my mouth out as he made the most hilarious faces I'd ever seen.
"Zombie cheesecake?"
"Like cheesecake that died, was buried, and then rose again from the dead."  I shuddered and stared at the offending cheesecake.

Stupid love.  Love made you want to punch yourself in the face.  It also made you so distracted that you didn't get as much done at your job as you should because you were too busy fantasizing about your stupid guy and his magical penis.  It made you spend meetings trying not to draw little hearts, or see what his last name would look like with your first name.  Love made you into a f***ing twelve-year-old girl.

Rory:  .....I was freaking out and I needed to be alone.  Well, alone with him.  Lucah just watched me pace.....I wish he would freak out more about this with me.  It was uncomfortable to be freaking when your significant was not freaking.  It made me feel like I was freaking too much, which only made me freak out about freaking out.  My life was exhausting sometimes.
Lucah:  "Would pacing naked help?  I know it would help me."

Lucah had poured his pain and his past into this letter, and the only way it wouldn't have affected me was if I didn't have a heart.  Well.  I'd had a heart and I'd given most of it to him.  That was what love did to you. Made you give parts of yourself to someone and they could do whatever they wanted with it and there was nothing you could do about it.
