This week my book boyfriend is Nixon Abandonato from Elect (Eagle Elite #2) by Rachel Van Dyken.  He is dominant, a total badass, so very hot, tattooed, and sometimes a jerk but he can also be very romantic.  He's selfless, loyal, and willing to do whatever it takes to protect the girl he loves.

ELECT Synopsis:

Nixon Abandonato made his choice. And now he has to pay the price. Tracey is the love of his life, but being with him has made her a target of his family's enemies. The only way to keep Trace alive is convince the world she means nothing to him.

Trace Rooks has fallen irrevocably in love with the son of her family's sworn rival, and she knows in her bones nothing can tear them apart. Until Nix suddenly pushes her away and into the arms of his best friend... But Trace isn't ready to give up on a future with Nix--and if he won't fight for them, she will.

In the end, a sacrifice must be made. A life for a life. For what better way to cover a multitude of sins than with the blood of a sinner . . .

I truly believed that the greatest sacrifice someone could make in life was putting someone else’s needs before your own wants and desires. Loving someone with such a passion that you’d suffer the rest of your life just so you could see them smile. You’d go to hell and back if only it meant keeping them safe.

But if I was protecting her? If I was saving her life by driving her into another man’s arms? Would that redeem me in the end? Or just damn us all to hell?

“It’s not about me, man. It’s about her. I’m not going to put her between us. Hell I’m not even going to let it get between you and me. It’s her, it’s always been her. Hell if I’m going to sit here and throw a fit for wanting something that doesn’t want me back.  She loves you?  Fine.  Because, Chase., it’s never been about my wants or needs.  I can’t live if she’s unhappy.  I can’t breathe if she’s upset.  If being with you brings her that peace, then I want you to have her.  I’ll be your best man at the wedding.  I’ll babysit your kids when you want date night.  Chase--It’s about her.”
“I feel lost.”
“Let me find you.”
“I feel sick.”
“Let me heal you.” I kissed her head.
“I feel sad.”
“Let me be your happiness.”

I sighed, touching my forehead to hers. “Sweetheart, I’m only going away for a while, okay? Remember that. If you remember nothing else, remember that. I’m going away. But I’ll always be here.” I pressed my hand to her chest. “And when the time is right…” I kissed her lips and then grazed them with my fingers. “I’ll be right here, kissing you, loving you, being with you and only you.”

    1. It is really good, especially if you like books with a mafia theme - which I didn't until I read this.

Hi, Ellen! Are you the host of this meme? (I hope this isn't a dumb question, but until I found this page, I had thought that another blog hosted Book Boyfriend of the Week!) I'd like to link up a post for next time, so I'm wondering about the schedule and other details.

    1. Hi, actually the meme was created by Reading and Things http://readingandthings.blogspot.com/ - but Val over at Stuck in Books is the one who creates the link each week. There are about six of us who participate weekly and the linky can be found on any of those blogs (Participation is a little down over the holidays), but you can add your link to the linky on any of those sites. We'd love to have you participate. The rules are really pretty simple and Val sums it up really well (see below). Feel free to copy the button above created by Catrina over at Reading and Things. Here's what Valarie puts on her posts, which sums it up really well. It's really a lot of fun and I hope you'll join us :)
