Surrendering to Us (Sweet Surrendering #2)They're finally together. But the Universe seems intent on tearing them apart…
by Chelsea Cameron
Expected Publication date: 1/9/14
Rory Clarke might not be Lucah Blythe's boss anymore, but that doesn't mean they can sneak off to the boardroom for hot sex whenever they want. Keeping their hands off each other in the workplace is harder than they could have imagined, and that's not the only obstacle they have to deal with. Between Lucah's troublesome brother Ryder, and Rory's bff Sloane's inability to understand locked doors, they're drowning in drama.
But it's only about to get a lot worse when a blast from Lucah's past surfaces, and chaos at Clarke Enterprises threatens to take away everything Rory has worked so hard for. Can the couple weather the storm and surrender to each other, or will the challenges of staying together destroy their relationship for good?

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed Sweet Surrendering, the first book in this series, and came to love the main characters in the story, Lucah and Rory, so I was anxious to see what was going on in their world in Surrendering to Us. Though not as intense and a bit slower paced than the first book, I really enjoyed Surrendering to Us a lot. Rory and Lucah are such likable characters, the kind that tend to really grow on you, and not only is the chemistry between them sizzling hot, but there is a lot of humor, they really love each other and have so much fun together, and I loved seeing what develops into a rock solid relationship. They are both just so personable that you can't help but get attached to them. Now a couple, they still have to hide their relationship at work because of a no dating policy the company has, which proves to be quite interesting at times. When someone from Lucah's past surfaces, Rory has some insecurity issues to "deal" with and Lucah does just that - and he deals with it in a very hot, "fan your face" way. Let me say up front, I was really not looking forward to the dreaded "love triangle" that seemed inevitable and was so happy that despite the apparent "set-up" that Chelsea Cameron had going on, Rory and Lucah again proved to have a solid relationship, and I fan my face just thinking about how clearly solid Lucah demonstrated it was to Rory.
Meanwhile, Lucah's brother Ryder is back in the picture and there is a lot of drama going on with him, and of course there is Sloane, Rory's BFF and former roommate, now next door neighbor, who I really came to like in book one and even more so in book two. There is plenty of drama going on with Ryder, and the stress of it takes its toll on Lucah, Rory, and the whole gang, but there is also a lot of good that comes out of it and I really enjoyed seeing the story develop around him, his relationship with his brothers, and his budding relationship with Sloane. I look forward to seeing where Chelsea Cameron is going to take that as the series progresses. The characters are well written and very easy to connect to, as are the secondary characters. Though a little slow in the beginning, the pacing worked for what took place during the course of the novel and completely kept my interest throughout the book.
Overall, Surrendering to Us is a great second installment in what is proving to be a romantic, sexy, and humor-filled story with great characters, hot romance, and an interesting plot. If you are a contemporary romance fan, then the Sweet Surrendering Series is one I would recommend adding to your TBR list.
