Brody
Markham has endured a nightmare, spending the last five years in prison and losing everything that was dear to him. Now he’s back home, trying to survive in a world he doesn’t recognize anymore. While his family and friends desperately try to reach through to him, he shelters himself further and further away from their love.

    Alyssa
Myers has worked her entire life to distance herself from the luxurious and privileged lifestyle in which she was raised. Running her non-profit agency, The Haven, she is content to spend her days helping abused animals find sanctuary, which fulfills her in a way that money just can’t buy.

     Maybe
it’s that she recognizes in Brody some of the same characteristics she sees in her homeless wards, but Alyssa is powerless to stop her personal quest to make Brody whole again.

     While
Brody struggles to surface from the darkness, Alyssa tries to protect her heart in case he’s not willing to accept the light that she offers him.

*MAKE IT A DOUBLE can be read as a stand-alone*

My Thoughts:  Ever since I read On the Rocks where we originally met Brody, I couldn't wait to read his story.  Brody Markham spent the last five years in prison, is now out and working with his twin brother Hunter at his club, while trying his best to acclimate back into society, even though he has no desire to be around people.  He's broody and understandably bitter concerning the circumstances around his arrest and imprisonment, and his family and friends want nothing more than for him to be happy again.  Alyssa Myers has been nothing but friendly to Brody, but unfortunately, he can't say the same.  She reminds him of his past and the person who broke his heart and betrayed him, and because Alyssa comes from a rich family he assumes she is just the same.  Circumstances throw them in situations together, and Brody realizes that he has totally misjudged Alyssa.  The attraction between the two undeniable, despite Brody's attempts to deny it, as well as his reluctance to get involved because of his past and his own beliefs regarding his self-worth. Alyssa, however, after forgiving Brody's initial jerkdom, is on a mission to convince him otherwise.  When things seem to be falling in place, dangerous people and circumstances from the past threaten to destroy them, and Brody comes to realize just what he is willing to do and willing to sacrifice for those he loves.

I loved Brody's character.  He has that mysterious alpha bad-boy vibe going on, he's sexy as sin, and is just the kind of guy you want to lose yourself in.  He was a bit of a jerk to Alyssa, though he completely redeems himself.  I loved Alyssa's character also.  I admired the way she didn't judge Brody at all and was committed to helping him see the great person he really is.  The chemistry between the two is sizzling hot, as is the romance, and the sex - well, Sawyer Bennett knows how to bring on the steam in that regard while providing her readers with a captivating and titillating story.  Make it a Double also had a bit of a suspenseful feel to it, which I thoroughly enjoyed and Bennett kept me keep flipping the pages, anxious to see what happened next.  There is also a wonderful epilogue, which I thoroughly enjoyed also.  I liked the fact that although this is a series, it can also be easily read as a stand alone.  If you are a fan of contemporary romance, then Make it a Double is something I would definitely recommend checking out.
