Beautiful Oblivion
(Maddox Brothers #1)

Publication Date:  July 1, 2014

The Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster phenomenon continues in the first heart-pounding new adult romance in The Maddox Brothers series.

Fiercely independent Camille "Cami" Camlin gladly moved on from her childhood before it was over. She has held down a job since before she could drive, and moved into her own apartment after her freshman year of college. Now tending bar at The Red Door, Cami doesn’t have time for much else besides work and classes, until a trip to see her boyfriend is cancelled, leaving her with a first weekend off in almost a year.

Trenton Maddox was the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school. His friends wanted to be him, and women wanted to tame him, but after a tragic accident turned his world upside down, Trenton leaves campus to come to grips with the crushing guilt.

Eighteen months later, Trenton is living at home with his widower father, and works full-time at a local tattoo parlor to help with the bills. Just when he thinks his life is returning to normal, he notices Cami sitting alone at a table at The Red.

As the baby sister of four rowdy brothers, Cami believes she’ll have no problem keeping her new friendship with Trenton Maddox strictly platonic. But when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever—even if she is the only reason their already broken family could fall apart.

In the first installment of the Maddox Brothers books, readers can experience the rush of reading Beautiful Disaster for the first time, all over again.

My Thoughts:  I absolutely love Travis Maddox and I've been on the edge of my seat, anxiously waiting on another oh so hot Maddox brother's story, Trenton Maddox.  I have two words to begin with about this story "HELL YEAH!!!!"  I knew when I read a little bit about Trent in the previous novels, I was going to like him, and I not only liked him, I totally loved him.  Beautiful Oblivion is Trent and Cami's story, and it takes place around the same time frame as Beautiful Disaster, so you get to see bits and pieces of Travis and "Pigeon" along the way, which served to remind me how much I loved the original story.

Trent has a reputation as a lady's man and is a bit of a man-whore like his brother Travis was, and though he doesn't fight, like Travis does for money, he can throw down with the best of them.  Oh, and did I mention he is a tattoo artist and has a plethora of his own hot tats also.  A tragic event has left him riddled with guilt, and even though he tries not to show it, it has effected him big time.  When Trent walks into The Red Door, everything changes for him when he see's Cami sitting by herself.  Cami is a very independent and strong young woman who has her own secrets, and they are big ones.  I really liked her.  She works at The Red Door, and also works a the tattoo parlor where Trenton works, while managing to attend a few college courses now and ten again.  Cami also has a boyfriend, which she makes clear to Trent, but Trent is a Maddox and doesn't take no for an answer.  I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop.  Even though there was undeniably hot chemistry between them, their relationship was built upon friendship, something I really enjoyed. Despite his reputation, Trent is such a great guy all the way around and he and Cami are perfect for each other, but will all that change when Trent finds out the truth about what Cami has been sworn to secrecy about.

The romance is this novel is outstanding, as is classic for Jamie McGuire, and the story itself is beautifully written and captivated my attention from beginning to end.  If you read it for nothing more than the twist you find out about at the end, and OH.MY.GAWD., what a twist it is, you will be glad you did.  I am usually pretty good about figuring out the twists in books, or at least have a good idea about it, but I was completely blind-sided by the twist in this book and I cannot wait for you to find out what it is.  Magnificently done Jamie McGuire.  That said, I totally loved Beautiful Oblivion and I would encourage you to hurry and get your copy as soon as you can.
