This week my book boyfriend is Trey Owens from One Night with a Quarterback by Jeanette Murray.  Why......he is a hot football player, namely a quarterback.  He's sexy, sweet, has a great sense of humor, and is real, despite his fame.

She’s daddy’s little girl…or she would have been, had he known she existed. Cassie Wainwright thought her father—head coach of the Santa Fe Bobcats—ignored her purposefully. Come to find out, he had no clue she’d ever been born.

Now Cassie is determined to meet the man who’s always been missing from her life. Her mother warns her, being the long-lost daughter of a well-known NFL coach won’t be easy, but Cassie’s determined to stick it out. And before her life turns upside down, she wants one more night of fun.

Starting quarterback for the Santa Fe Bobcats, Trey Owens is tired of being in the limelight. Lucky for him, the beautiful brunette he meets at the club isn’t a local. She has no idea who he is…and she’s down to party.

Tomorrow, Cassie will think about her father. Tomorrow, she’ll think about her future. But tonight is for herself and the hottie she found on dance floor. It’s a matchup made in heaven—if only for a night…

My Thoughts:  I loved sports themed romances, and Jeanette Murray provides her readers with a hot, entertaining, funny, sexy, and just plain good sports themed romance.  Cassie Wainwright just wants one night of freedom, one night on the wild side, before her life changes completely.  Trey Owens just wants to enjoy a night out without being recognized by a mob of people.  Though no one is noticing Trey, her certainly notices Cassie and her friend dancing on a platform at the nightclub.  Cassie, however, is not one of the easy pushover fangirls that typically follow him around.  Cassie is independent, self-confidant, obviously loves life and doesn't care what others think.  Trey can't help but seek Cassie out.  The result of their encounter fuels a chemistry filled passion between them that is anything but easy.

I really loved Cassie's character.  She was just a hoot.  Not only is she funny, she is loyal and isn't afraid of much of anything.......well, except one thing, Trey.  He is totally hot in a "Greek God" fashion.  He sexy as sin, and he is determined to get what he wants, and what he wants is Cassie.  The romance was sweet, though also hot at times.  I loved the banter between Trey and Lisa.  Both have a really great sense of humor.  The story itself is not only fun, it is also beautifully executed and very well written.  It has a good bit of humor, hot romance, great characters, and is an all around good read.  I definitely recommend checking this one out if you are a fan of this genre.
Okay.  Hot guy, check.  Stack of pancakes, check.  Last night of freedom......Damn it.......
"So, Cassie,"  Trey asked after a healthy gulp of mild.  Milk.  The man drank milk.  It was almost adorable.  Like the way he had to slide his glasses back up his nose an inch every time he looked up from his plate.
"What does a smart mouth with a healthy lust for shoes do for a living?"
"IT stuff mostly."  She leaned in a little, careful not to stick a boob in the syrup and whispered, "I'm a nerd in disguise."
"An IT nerd, huh?"  He thought about that a second, scooped up the last of the pancake, and motioned at her with the full fork.  "I thought all those guys wore weird T-shirts with techie-double entredres on them and dreamed about hot girls like you from their futon in their mom's basement.  How'd they let you in the nerd club?"  Typical stereotype.  She smiled sweetly.  "They'd never seen real boobs before, so I flashed them at the interview.  Job lock."  He nearly choked on his milk.  Good.
.....The server walked by, black checkbook in hand, and he reached for it automatically.  Cassie snatched it practically mid-air and deposited her credit card in the slot, handing it back to the server.........
"I could have take care of that," he said.  "I'm sure you could have.  But you know us techie geeks.  We make a good living, since we're not paying rent while living in our mother's basement."

Jeanette spends her days surrounded by hunky alpha men…at least in her imagination. In real life, she’s a wife and a mother, keeping tabs on her husband of seven years, her four year old daughter (often called Tot) and the family dog, a lovable (but completely stupid) Goldendoodle named Clyde. Hang around long enough and you’re guaranteed to hear at least one or two stories about these three. She and her family currently live just outside of St. Louis.

What’s with the two names? Great question. Jeanette writes for a few different publishers. And due to the timing of some releases, two names just seemed like the right option. But Jeanette can assure you, no matter which pen name you’re reading, you’re going to get sexy contemporary love..

  1. Yeppppp! Trey was one excellent book boyfriend!

  2. I actually really like sport themed books/romances as well, which is funny because overall I am not big on sports. This one sounds like a keeper!

  3. I loved that she paid for the meal. Too cute!

  4. Ooo this looks good, and Trey sounds like a great book boyfriend. That cover is yummy.

  5. Loved Trey! (Love that you picked a Bronco for his pic - even if that isn't a quarterback)
