Too hot to handle...
Tabitha Allen grew up in the thick of Chaos--the Chaos Motorcycle Club, that is. Her father is Chaos' leader, and the club has always had her back. But one rider was different from the start. When Tabby was running wild, Shy Cage was there. When tragedy tore her life apart, he helped her piece it back together. And now, Tabby's thinking about much more than friendship...
Tabby is everything Shy's ever wanted, but everything he thinks he can't have. She's beautiful, smart, and as his friend's daughter, untouchable. Shy never expected more than friendship, so when Tabby indicates she wants more--much more--he feels like the luckiest man alive. But even lucky men can crash and burn...

My Thoughts: This is my third Kristen Ashley book and I am a total Kristen Ashley fangirl now. After reading my friend Andrea's reviews (The Bookish Babe), I knew I had to check this author out. My first Kristen Ashely novel was Motorcycle Man, in which you meet the main characters in this book, Shy and Tabby, though the book itself was Tack (Tabby's dad) and Tyra's story. I loved it. I also loved Shy and Tabby's story. Tabby has grown up with the Chaos motorcycle club so she knows what that life is all about. She's had a crush on Shy Cage since she was 16 years old, but for Shy she's always been off limits. Back then he was too old for her, and he's always been a a man-whore with the women pretty much falling at his feet. Tabby has always been special to him.....there was always just something about her. All that changed after an incident one night. Things were said and done, and resulted in Tabby pretty much disappearing out of his life. The next thing he knew she was someone else's. After a tragedy, he's back in her life again, even if it is only as a friend, at least according to her. He's willing to be whatever she needs him to be, but there is no denying the chemistry between them or the feelings that run so much deeper than just friendship. After finally giving into what was always inevitable, the opposition they face is fierce, especially given who Tabby is, who her dad is, and Shy's reputation. They are tested in every way, but nothing, and I mean nothing, is going to keep Shy Cage from the woman he loves....not hell, high-water, or the Chaos Motorcycle Club.
I loved Shy's character. He is dominant, as badass as badass can be, hot, sexy, and is a man of few words, but the few words he does say speak volumes. Tabby has done a lot of growing up since we last saw her in Motorcycle man. She's graduated college, is now a nurse, and has faced a devastating loss. When she realizes how fiercely she loves Shy, she transforms into a force to be reckoned with. There is a whole lot of drama, danger, romance, and really hot sex in this book. I really enjoyed the whole biker aspect and loved the way Kristen Ashley takes you deep into this world. I also really enjoyed the fact that you get to see characters from previous novels in this book. I especially enjoyed getting to see Tack and Tyra. That said, you can easily read this book without reading the previous novels, as it is more of a companion novel, but I would definitely suggest reading Motorcycle Man first so you can really appreciate the characters and where they are coming from.
This also was my first audio book, and I've discovered that I enjoy listening as much as I do reading. Own the Wind is intense at times, and definitely had me captivated from beginning to end. It is a very adult book with strong language and sexual situations, and would not be appropriate for those under age 18 or for those offended by this type of material. That said, you couldn't really write a great biker book without those things because it is such a big component of that world, a world that I thoroughly enjoyed partaking of. I can't wait to read more from this author and have already purchased Fire Inside, the second book in the Chaos series, as well as Rock Chick and the Dream Man series. Own the Wind was wonderful and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
“You’d give up your brothers for a woman?” Brick asked incredulously and Shy’s eyes moved to him.“Abso-fucking-lutely.”
“Seriously?” Boz asked.
“Not any woman,” Shy nodded my way then invited "now ask again.”
“Because he tells me. All the fucking time. I’m precious to him and I know it because he shows me and he tells me. It’s beautiful. It’s real. It’s right.”
“I’d like to know why you dialed my number tonight, but if you don’t wanna share that shit, that’s cool too. I’ll just say, babe, I’m glad you did. You need a safe place just to forget shit and escape, I’ll give it to you. Tonight. Tomorrow. Next week. Next month. That safe place is me, Tabby.”
“You love me?” I whispered. He turned slowly to me and the muscle in his jaw kept ticking until his eyes locked on mine. “You lost that guy, respect, you found the strength to carry on. Know this, Tabby, I lost you, it would be sixty years of goin’ through the motions. I know that in my dick. I know it in my gut. I know it in my heart. I know it deep down in my goddamned soul.”
“Shy Cage never dreamed a dream. Still, he knew, without a doubt since he was holding one in his arms, dreams were real.”
“I never dreamed any fuckin' dream," he whispered, and the smile faded from her face as tears filled her eyes. She understood him.
"Didn't dream it, saw it, waited my time, and then you gave it to me.”
About the author:
Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristenwas raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake. Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
