This week my book boyfriend is Max Butler from Temptation by Robin Covington.
His mask was pushed completely off his face now and I could see his features clearly.  His skin was smudged with black soot that emphasized his strong, angular jaw.  His eyes were deep topaz fringed by thick, black eyelashes.  He was fucking gorgeous.  Not movie-star or prettied-up male model good-looking, but real man, works-for-a-living, has-women-falling-all-over-him at the grocery store smokin' hot.  If I could have custom-ordered a man, this is what he would look like.
I slumped against him and groaned, "Oh no, I'm dead."
Concern clouded his perfect features as he leaned down to me.
"No, ma'am; you're okay.  You'll be fine. "
"Nope.  I'm dead."  I pointed at him with a shaky finger.  "Because anybody as beautiful as you must be an angel."
I thought I heard laughter as everything went black.

About Temptation:

She needs to be good.

Five years ago, Kit Landry was homeless and alone at sixteen. Determined to ditch her crappy life, she moved to Nashville with only $200, her guitar, and a notebook full of songs. She hit it big as America’s country sweetheart, but a year of living like a rock star plus a stint in rehab has killed any good will she had with her label. The suits have ordered Kit to shape up or ship out of the limelight. The last thing she needs is a hot, sexy distraction with a sinful smile.

He doesn’t know the meaning of the word.

Max Butler is as far from a celebrity as you can get and he likes it that way. A Nashville firefighter, he’s living the single life with a revolving door of parties, friends, and a different woman in his bed every night. When his normal life suddenly collides with the girl on his favorite Rolling Stone cover, he sees the perfect chance to fulfill his ultimate fantasy and see just how bad Kit can be.

Sometimes bad is so very good.

With three weeks until Kit leaves for her big tour, Max promises to give her a break from being the good girl--no strings attached. But when hot days lead to sultry nights, the lines get blurred and suddenly three weeks of bad might not be good enough.

I had thought the fire was dangerous, but I was wrong. Max was the thing I needed to worry about.
"You're no angel," I whispered.
"I'm glad you finally figured it out."

"Whoa.  Steady there."  Max's voice was filled with concern and I bit my lip at the sexy, deep, tone.  If he ever gave up firefighting, he could do phone sex.  Just for me.  I would pay a lot of money for that.

Let's be clear.  I'm no angel.

My Review:  If you've never read anything by Robin Covington, then Temptation is an excellent book to start with.  I mean, hot sexy firefighter, oh yeah.  Throw in a feisty little country singer, 3 weeks of what they think will be a no-attachment really good time, paparazzi and all that goes along with the music industry, and some really steamy sexy scenes and you are most definitely set for a treat.

Max Butler doesn't like being called a hero.  He doesn't do his job for recognition.  He does it because he can't see himself doing anything else.  Women.....well, he does them to, but not more than once.  He's definitely a no relationship type of guy and a past that has made him that way.   Kit Landry has had a rough time of it over the past couple of years.  She's a famous country singer, but she had to work really hard for it.  Her life has been anything but a bed of roses, especially with the things that have happened to her in the last year....then there are the secrets she's tried to keep hidden.   Having had one bad relationship, she doesn't want to get involved in anything but a fun time, but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants.........even if it might wind up broken in the process.

I loved both Max and Kit's characters.  They were so personable and I connected with them and thoroughly enjoyed their story, captivated from beginning to end.  Robin Covington has managed to take a good story and make it into a really great (and very hot) romance.  I just love when an author can take two and mix them together so well, and Robin Covington definitely delivers a great story, mixed with the right amount of steam, fun, and drama.  If you are a contemporary romance fan, this is definitely one you'll want to pick up.

  1. You had me sold at hot sexy firefighter!

  2. Sexy firefighter...I'm in! I haven't read this author and I will admit to being intrigued. Nice choice.

  3. Max sounds awesome! I've read one of covington's books and really liked it.
    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Cool tip! There's a fire station at the end of my street and as I live close to Nashville, this story just might be happening close to me. I love stories like that, the ones where the characters could be your neighbor or friend.

Thanks for your comments. I love hearing from you!
