First, I had to remember how to breathe. Then, I had to learn how to survive. Two years, three months and sixteen days had passed since I was the Rowe Stanton from before, since tragedy stole my youth and my heart went along with it.

When I left for college, I put a thousand miles between my future and my past. I’d made a choice—I was going to cross back to the other side, to livewith the living. I just didn’t know how.

And then I met Nate Preeter.

An All-American baseball player, Nate wasn’t supposed to notice a ghost-of-a-girl like me. But he did. He shouldn’t want to know my name. But he did. And when he learned my secret and saw the scars it left behind, he was supposed to run. But he didn’t.

My heart was dead, and I was never supposed to belong to anyone. But Nate Preeter had me feeling, and he made me want to be his. He showed me everything I was missing.

And then he showed me how to fall.

My Review:  I just love Ginger Scott's writing and have read several books by her, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed.  This is Falling is the story of Rowe Stanton and Nate Preeter.  It's Rowe's first year at college, something that is a really huge step for her.  It's been a little of two years since she had her heart ripped to pieces and was left the shell of the girl she used to be.  Consumed by a mixture of sorrow, grief, guilt, and fear, the littlest things to you and I are really big for Rowe.  Nate Pretter is the catcher for the baseball team and he's very good and has been sought out by many colleges.  He's definitely a hot jock, but he's also down to earth, and he's just what Rowe needs.

Nate is captivated by Rowe and gradually manages to chip away the walls she has constructed around herself because of the past.  Nate has his own hurts he's trying to get over and he's not perfect, and definitely screws up a couple of times, but the things he does right, are oh so right, and he more than makes up for his screw-ups.  Their relationship is sweet, funny, heart-wrenching at times, and they definitely have chemistry that is sizzling.  I loved watching their relationship progress and Ginger Scott did an excellent job of addressing a really difficult issue that has affected so many in our country, giving you an up close and personal view from the perspective of one fictional victim that portrays the picture of what so many real-life people have gone through, enabling you to see things from the other side of the looking glass.

While it sounds very serious, and it is, there was just the right amount of humor to inserted as well, and the secondary characters were awesome.  You will fall in love with Nate's brother Ty, who will be getting his own story next.  This is Falling is a gripping and beautifully done romance that I would definitely recommend checking out.

“...You are the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing I think about at night. You are the face in all of my dreams and the smile I see when I close my eyes. Your voice when you sing in the shower late at night, when you think you’re alone, is like music to my ears...”

“She starts spinning slowly in a circle, laughing. And then it’s there - the smile. The same look she had on her face in that picture. It’s joy. And I just gave it to her.
My god, do I want to give it to her again.

“I am willing to wait for whatever pieces she’s willing to give. And if I have to help her make each piece whole first, then so be it.”

“I feel like I just won an award. I might even make a T-shirt that says I gave Rowe Stanton her first orgasm.”
“Nate! Don’t even joke…” I start, but stop when he starts to tickle my sides, making me laugh uncontrollably.
Oh no. I’m doing it. And I’m making hats, too. And…oh yeah! I’m going to make one for Ty that says ‘My brother gave Rowe Stanton her first orgasm.”

“I wanted you to fall. And I wanted to catch you.”
