Pretending to be something they’re not, afraid to trust anyone completely, destined to tear each other apart– this is the story of unlikely love and unbearable consequences.

Sig Locke is a cop. He was raised by a cop and all his brothers are cops. He bleeds blue, believes in right and wrong, and sees in black and white, never in shades of gray.

But that was before he met Tommi.

Tommi, with her long legs and bright green eyes, she captured Sig’s interest from the moment he saw her. Even after he discovered who she was–the girlfriend of a drug dealer, the beauty behind a criminal–he still found her utterly irresistible. What Sig doesn’t know, however, is that she has a secret even a cop can’t uncover.

Tommi Lawrence hasn’t had an easy life, and it only got more complicated the day she met Sig. She learned long ago that she can’t trust anyone. Her gut tells her that Sig is no exception, her heart tells her that he is. But that was before she found out his real identity.

Can love be forged in a fire of lies? Or will the truth destroy them both?

For two weeks, I shadow Tommi.  Sometimes she knows I’m close.  Other times she doesn’t.  I follow her to drop her brother off at school. I follow her
to Tonin’s.  Sometimes she comes
back out and runs a few errands, sometimes she doesn’t come out for hours.  I can only imagine what they’re doing
in there those days.  Actually, I
can imagine quite well.  Parts of
those mental pictures are delicious as hell.  Parts of them are downright slimy.  Always, though, I’m left with the same kinds of
wonderings–what the hell is a girl like her
doing with a guy like him?
Day after day, I watch them together.  She never looks happy or engaged. At
least not beyond this superficial smile that she wears.  If I hadn’t met her that one time
before, I might not know the difference. But I can tell.  And I remember how nervous she was
about being late and showing up in her “street” clothes.  It’s little things like that, things
I’m starting to see more of, that make me wonder what he’s doing to keep her.
And why she goes to such lengths to stay.

He hasn’t totally possessed her, though.  At least three days a week, I follow
Tommi to some location that she says would make me uncomfortable to go into or
to a building that’s locked for one reason or another.  It’s always near a public place, one
that’s fairly easy to hide and remain anonymous in, and one that has
Wi-Fi.  On each of those days, she
carries a snazzy purse that will allow for her iPad, to hide whatever it is
that she’s doing.

Beyond the scope of my real job and my Tonin job, sometimes I wait outside, watching her place on
nights when she doesn’t have plans with her disgusting boyfriend.  Her brother goes out on those nights
and she stays inside doing…whatever.
I’ve thought several times of going to the door, of knocking and giving
some excuse to be here or to stop by, but she’s not to a place where she’s open
to trusting me yet. And I can’t afford to lose her this early on.  So I wait.  And I watch.

On nights that she’s with
Lance, I watch her climb into his car, I watch her look stunning for him, I
watch him parade her around like a prize bull.  That shit’s getting harder and harder to see. She’s better
than that.  Better than him.
I’m just not sure she knows it.  But I do.  It
doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that this woman is something
special.  And that she’s withering
away here with Tonin.

My Review:  I am a huge M. Leighton fan and have been anxiously awaiting the third book in her Pretty series, All Things Pretty, which is Sig's story.  Sig is Sloane's (from All the Pretty Lies) brother, and while this is a series, each novel is a companion novel and can be easily read as a standalone.   New to the series is Tommi Lawrence, Sig's love interest.  Sig is also a cop, and Tommi, seems she's as far from being a cop as you can get, but she also has her reasons for doing the things she feels she has to do.  After a chance meeting during which the chemistry between the these two is electric, one thing leads to another and these two end up spending a lot of time together.  Sig can't understand why Tommi stays with her sickening boyfriend, but he is also fascinated by her and he wants her.  Tommi can't deny her attraction to Sig, but she also has a hard time trusting anyone.  She also has a goal she is working towards, a reason she has endured and continues to endure all she has.

I loved Sig's character.  He's hot, tall, muscular, so good looking and he knows it, yet he has a wonderful sense of humor and a fierce need to protect those he cares about.  Tommi is also extremely loyal to those she loves and is willing to do anything she has to in order to protect and care for them.  The romance is hot and at times surprising, but will definitely have you fanning your face on numerous occasions.  Sig sees Tommi for who she really is, not who she has to pretend to be around Lance, the creepy boyfriend.

The story itself is suspenseful with an element of danger.  That mixed with the hot romance, the mystery and secrets, and just the right amount of humor make this a rocking read and outstanding addition to this series. The ending leaves you on the edge of your seat and biting your nails.  While some things are revealed, you are left with many questions.  Not to fear though, the rest of the story will be available in just a couple of weeks so...sigh....take a deep breath.....and get ready for the rest of the story, which I think is going to be mind blowing and intense.  I can't wait.

About Michelle:
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, M. Leighton, is a native of Ohio. She relocated to the warmer climates of the South, where she can be near the water all summer and miss the snow all winter. Possessed of an overactive imagination from early in her childhood, Michelle finally found an acceptable outlet for her fantastical visions: literary fiction. Having written over a dozen novels, these days Michelle enjoys letting her mind wander to more romantic settings with sexy Southern guys, much like the one she married and the ones you'll find in her latest books. When her thoughts aren't roaming in that direction, she'll be riding wild horses, skiing the slopes of Aspen or scuba diving with a hot rock star, all without leaving the cozy comfort of her office.

About Michelle: I love coffee and chocolate, even more so when they are combined. I'm convinced that one day they could be the basis for world peace. I also love the color red and am seriously considering dying my hair.

Michelle loves to hear from readers! You can find her (and she will chat your ear off) here:
