Jaxon is the guy she’s supposed to avoid.
K.C. is the girl he won’t let get away....
K. C. Carter has always followed the rules—until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she’s stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door.
Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life—except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As the bond between them grows, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother’s shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible.…

My Thoughts: Falling Away is the first book I've read by Penelope Davis and is part of her Fall Away Series. It is actually the third book in the series, but can easily be read as a standalone. I LOVED it so hard. Honestly, I read a ton of contemporary romance, and this was one of those books that just sucked me in from beginning to end. I was completely captivated by these characters and their story. Of course Jaxon Trent is one of those hotties to die for. A total bad boy who is also sexier than sin, but has a past that makes you want to hug him and hold him, then lick him like a lollipop. K.C. has had her share of woes also, and though she and Jaxon are from different sides of the track, they also have much more in common than they think.
One of the things I liked about Jaxon was that he wasn't perfect. In fact, he screwed up on more than one occasion. K.C. wasn't perfect either, no matter how hard she had tried to be in the past. I admired the way she handled some of the things that happened in the book. The chemistry and passion between K.C. and Jaxon practically explodes like fireworks flying off the pages, making for some excellent and oh so hot romance. There is also a dangerous/suspenseful element in the story, which was something I thoroughly enj0yed as well.
Falling Away was one of those books that just grabbed me with that little something something that just sucks you in as a reader and makes a book really stand out from the crowd.....those of you who read a lot, will know what I mean. In fact, as soon as I finished this story, I immediately went and bought the first two books and the novella that preceded Falling Away on audio. Yes, that is how much I loved it I am now a huge Penelope Douglas fan and can't wait to read the rest of this series. Contemporary romance fans, you''ll definitely want to check this one out.
“I wrapped my arms around his waist. "You called me your girl." I nodded, waggling my eyebrows. "And," I continued, "you'd better believe this little wallflower will cut a bitch with that knife of yours if anyone lays a hand on you.”
