Book Boyfriend of the Week: Dell Connelly from Animal Attraction (Animal Magnetism #2) by Jill Shalvis with Review

This week my book boyfriend is Dell Connelly from Animal Attraction by Jill Shalvis.  He's a hot, sexy, veterinarian who is half American-Indian and literally fulfills the description of tall, dark, and handsome perfectly, while having that rugged alpha male charm that women love.

She’s tempting his basic instincts…

Sunshine, Idaho, is a quiet ranching town, a perfect place to give injured animals a refuge…or to find one yourself. Veterinarian Dell Connelly suspects there’s a reason his clinic’s uber-efficient receptionist has taken shelter here.

Jade Bennett couldn’t be happier to escape the big-city jungle to work with hurt animals, and have a forlorn stray kitten make its home under her desk…or enjoy the gorgeous views of her ruggedly sexy boss.

Jade is used to planning everything in her life, but Dell’s seductive, alluring ways have sparked an uncontrollable desire. And though Dell has never had time for love, Jade’s strength and sass is the kind of call no red-blooded male can resist…

Audiobook Review:  Animal Attraction is the second book in Jill Shalvis' Animal Magnetism series and in it, we get to get up close and personal with the oh so hot veterinarian Dell Connelly.  We got to meet Dell and his handsome broody brother Adam in book one, Animal Magnetism, and I couldn't wait to read his and Jade's story.  Dell is quite the player and is somewhat of a man-whore.  The only woman who isn't falling at his feet, however, is his receptionist, Jade Bennett.  There is definitely chemistry between the two, much they try to ignore it.  Jade has a past that has left her vulnerable and caused her to leave her old life behind, ending up in beautiful Sunshine Idaho.  Her past has also kept her from letting anyone get too close to her as well.  Dell sees a lot more than she is aware of, and is determined to help her heal.  Dell also has issues from his past that have caused him to have commitment phobia, but Jade can also see past his disguises as well.  Try as they may, they can't avoid the inevitable and things get hot and heavy between them, and not only physically.  Their feelings run deep, but when push comes to shove, will Dell have the guts to hold onto this woman who has captured his heart, and if he does, will Jade have the guts to let him have it?

I loved Dell''s character.  He's such a great guy, despite his man-whorish past.  I also love the relationship he has with his brothers.  Of course there is the fact that he is a total hottie who will cause you to melt in a puddle with his smile.  You also get to see plenty of Brady and Lila, who were in the first novel, and then there is Adam, and I think he is going to wind up being my favorite by the time I read his story, which is next in the series.  While this is a series, each book can easily be read as a standalone, though after reading one, you'll want to devour the rest of the series.  Animal Attraction is an awesome contemporary romance that will capture your attention and your heart and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Quotes:
“Boner," Peanut said.
"Oh no," Jade said to the parrot. "No, no, no...you can't say-
"Boner"
"Oh G-d" Jade panicked. "Peanut-"
"Pretty bird," Dell broke in, smiling at the parrot and speaking low and soft. "Such a pretty girl, Peanut."
Peanut preened under his admiring tone. "Pretty Peanut.”

“Her hands slid to his shoulders, his biceps, and dug in as if to hold him here, right here. But he wasn't going anywhere. He liked her hands on him, liked her tongue in his mouth, and when she made that noise deep in her throat, the one that said she was as lost as him, he groaned, both in pleasure and with a good amount of what-the-fuckery, because he knew.
He was in trouble.
Down to the bone trouble, and he didn't give one single shit.”
