Opposites attract in this seductive novel from the author of Against the Cage (“Funny, steamy, scorching.”—Toni Aleo), with a chiseled MMA fighter falling for a single mom who could use a real man in her corner.

Working two jobs to support her infant daughter is harder than anything Penny Richards has ever done, but it sure beats living under the rules of her stepfather, a television preacher who demands a picture-perfect family. And if Penny hadn’t struck out on her own, she never would have met Travis Calhoun. The intensely physical heavyweight brawler has a way of drawing out her wild side. But Travis lives fast, with no responsibilities—and that just isn’t for Penny.

Most of the women in Travis’s circle wear tight clothes, high heels, and tons of makeup—not pearls or plaid headbands. But once he works past Penny’s inhibitions, Travis discovers a kindred spirit who longs to trust someone with her body, and her secrets. Still, Travis can’t help but wonder if this rich girl is just slumming it before she returns to her privileged life. Now it’s up to Penny to prove that she wants her hard-edged, hard-loving fighter just the way he is.

“Yes I know. You’re perfectly capable of taking a bus and working at a strip club. Pearls and whatever-the-fuck-thing you have on your hair, and all. And, you’re absolutely perfectly capable of kissing me so hard and so damn sweet that I can’t fuckin’ stop thinking about it. It was like you poured molasses in my mouth and I can’t stop imagining how the rest of you tastes. But that’s not the point, right? The point is that I want to drive you home, so let me, okay?”
Her face warmed and her skin erupted in goose bumps. The man certainly had a way with words. Words that deserved a slap across the face, not a thumping heart or shaky knees.
“Well, it is late.” She conceded. “And it is better than taking the bus.”
I’m glad the thought of me driving you home is just a few steps above a shitty public bus.” He said, laughing and she couldn’t help but laugh too.

My Review:
The Worth the Fight series by Sidney Halston has been one that I can truly say I've enjoyed every installment thoroughly, and that includes this most recent addition, Stacked Up, which is Travis and Penny's story.  While each book is easily read as a companion novel, I do love the fact that you get bits and pieces of all the characters from the previous books in the series as well.  In Stacked Up, Halston provides readers with a hot, sexy, alpha male MMA fighter who is also funny and likable.  Travis is a former manwhore who has found himself gradually turning from his manwhorish ways since he met the lovely Penny Richards almost one year previously.  She's totally the opposite from the type of woman he usually goes for, sweet and shy, but there is just something about her that keeps Travis coming back night after night to the bar she works at, just to be around her.  Even one year in, he knows her so well, yet he also realizes there is a lot he doesn't know, things she keeps hidden.

Penny Richards has a secret past that has brought her to the place she is, driven by a fierce need to protect her daughter, a daughter that only a few people even know exists, and Travis is not one of the few.  When things get hard, she finds herself in Travis' arms, finally giving in to the desires she has denied herself for for so long, even if just for a moment.  Even with that moment of pleasure, of comfort, she knows it is short-lived because Travis doesn't know about Belle....yet....and when he finds out, well, he doesn't handle it in the best of ways.  Even worse, when he does the one thing she's asked him not to, unintentional as it may have been, Penny's world begins to crumble around her and everything she's worked so hard for threatens to come tumbling down.  It's up to Travis to save her, but whether he loses his heart in the process remains to be seen.

I really loved Travis and Penny's story.  The way their romance progressed was not only heartwarming, and at times heartbreaking, it was also smoking hot.  Who knew Penny had it in her.....you go girl  Then there is Belle, what a little angel.  She'll own your heart before it's all said and done.  Great romance, a great story, characters that are engaging and lovable, and some suspense added in the mix makes for a really great read.  Definitely check this one out.

USA Today bestselling author, Sidney Halston lives her life with one simple rule: "Just Do It"--Nike. And that's exactly what she did.

After working hard as an attorney, Sidney picked up a pen for the first time at thirty years old to begin her dream of writing. Having never written anything other than very exciting legal briefs, she found an outlet for her imaginative, romantic side and wrote Seeing Red. That first pen stroke sealed the deal, and she fell in love with writing. Sidney lives in South Florida with her husband and children. She loves her family above all else, and reading follows a close second. When she's not writing, you can find her reading and reading and reading. She's a reader first and a writer second. When she's not writing or reading, her life is complete and utter chaos, trying to balance family life with work and writing (and reading). But she wouldn't have it any other way.
