Review: Addicted (Outlaws #2) by Elle Kennedy from Signet
by Elle Kennedy
Goodreads | Amazon | Barnes and Noble
From the New York Times bestselling author of Claimed comes the second enticingly erotic novel set in a world on the brink of chaos.
Lennox used to live in a paradise on earth with his best friend Jamie, in a place where visitors came and went, allowing their desires to run free. But everything changes when a deadly attack forces them to take up with Connor Mackenzie’s band of Outlaws. Lennox knows Jamie is hung up on someone else, but he’s always believed he’s the man for her—and won’t let her go without a fight.
Even though Jamie is well aware that Lennox is one hot specimen of a man, she refuses to let sex ruin the most important relationship in her life. But when the object of her interest spurns her, she indulges in a little pleasure-filled revenge with her very magnetic, very willing best friend. One thrilling night with Lennox is enough to awaken Jamie’s unexpected desires for him. And now that she’s had a taste, she’s not sure she can ever give him up...
My Thoughts: After reading the first book in Elle Kennedy's Outlaws series, Claimed (which was awesome by the way), I could not wait to read Addicted. Actually, I devoured Addicted and loved every minute of it. The story is set in a post-apocolyptic world where danger is every present and the only way to be free is to live the life of an outlaw. These outlaws aren't your typical outlaws, but more like rebels fighting for independence. They're badass, tough as nails, and determined to live life free from the dictatorship of the Enforcers. Living free also brings the knowledge that nothing, including life, is guaranteed, so they live life to the fullest, including in the sexual arena. Elle Kennedy definitely brings the heat in this area and it is erotic with some kink at times, so this is definitely an adult-only read.
We met both Lennox and Jamie in Claimed. They have been friends since childhood, and have stuck together, as friends, pretty much their whole life, with Lennox being determined to keep Jamie close, unwilling to cross the friendship line because he's always been afraid of losing her if that happened. Lennox is also very alpha and very, very hot, a fact which Jamie is acutely aware of. One night when Lennox has a little too much to drink, one thing leads to another and that friendship line is crossed, unleashing a passion between these two the likes of which neither has experienced.
When danger knocks at their front door and threatens everything, Lennox and Jamie have to make some very tough choices that test their resolve, what they want in life, their loyalty, and what they truly mean to each other, thus the romance that we all crave. The secondary characters were all awesome as well, some old and some new to the series, but all well-written and all contributing a lot to the story.
Addicted is filled with danger, suspense, hot steamy romance and is an outstanding edition to this series. Fans Elle Kennedy will most definitely want to check this out. I know I can't wait for the next installment in the series.
